I worked at Epir Technologies as an intern

    Pros

The people were all really awesome to work with. Anyone helped you if you had a question, or wanted to learn about what they were working on. They provided free lunch every Friday!

    Cons

Very small company, as an intern it could be very boring.

I worked at Epir Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work is pretty interesting. More of a stepping stone company until you find a better opportunity. The company is relatively academic if you like that.

    Cons

No more bonuses. One small pay raise in 5 years. EPIR can't always cut paychecks on time due to being short on money. Benefits aren't good and insurance is over $1000 a month out of pocket if you have a larger family. Sometimes they can't afford to pay their share of health insurance so they lapse on payments, they don't let you know this is happening and you have to find out the hard way you don't have health insurance. Vendors really hate doing business with EPIR because they are really poor at paying.

    Advice to Management

The CEO is extremely arrogant and has this attitude that you, as his employee, should just be thankful to be working for someone as amazing as he is. To the CEO I say give your employees raises and stop thinking so highly of yourself. You don't need a personal driver to take you everywhere.

    Pros

    Great people to work with

    Cons

If you love the Chicago city, the office is a bit far out. Commute can be tough in the harsh winters.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Great group of people to work with and most had multi-disciplined backgrounds.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement in such a small company. The leadership was not very structured at EPIR.

    Advice to Management

Trust that all your employees will always make decisions in the company's best interest. There has to be a greater level of trust and communication between the president and the employees.
