    Positive Outlook

I worked at Eppendorf North America full-time

    Pros

Excellent training and communication up and down the chain of command as well as being kept in the loop of product changes and updates from Eppendorf Germany.
Quality of the personnel from in-house/customer service to field techs/engineers was outstanding.
Support from Germany was very good and never felt out of touch with what was going on.

    Cons

Poor IT support considering the amount of software/equipment that service personnel are using.
Eppendorf NA is a sales organization first and foremost so service issues can take a back seat at times.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing and taking care of your people.

    Pros

Good job for those that like to travel, in charge of your own schedule, and company car provided.

    Cons

Work load can be very heavy at times depending on the region, travel can also be heavy depending on the region.

    Advice to Management

Good management team at the moment. Easy to get in touch with, helpful when needed. Keep up the great management.

I have been working at Eppendorf North America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company car, flexibility with schedule and spending accounts, good 401K and profit sharing, overall friendly people, more of a good ol boys club environment

    Cons

Lower base salary and overall compensation in the industry and no new technology to be competitive, over priced to competitive in the market, home office is clicky and gossipy, upper management almost never wants to call you directly but pass the message along

    Advice to Management

    Team building, communication, leadership

    Pros

Not many. Ok if you are just starting out or need a job before you fined a career somewere else.

    Cons

Unprofessional management. Huge turnover. There ability to relate and connect with there staff is no-existent. They just fire and hire constantly. Reviews and raises had to be forced down their throats by the new HR. Rules apply differently if you are German.

    Advice to Management

Clean house with your "managers" and get some training on how to manage your workforce.

    Pros

    Some products are solid.
    Benefits ok.

    Cons

German HQ doesn't care about US employees.
Older products require lots of babysitting.
Lots of extra hours expected from everyone for no extra pay.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and run this like the company you want to be. Your actions speak much louder than your words.

    Pros

Great International Company where if you are born in Germany , you can succeed very well. Also if you are a naive young person living on Long Island, they will love you. Or if you know how to suck up.

    Cons

Well they seem to have a lot of disrespect for science and scientists and actually think what they do by selling stuff is more important than the work the scientists and engineers who may purchase their equipment,

    Advice to Management

Live up to your word, and honor agreements.

I worked at Eppendorf North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The good thing about this job was being able to learn about the different biomedical equipment and products that were sold and helping customers with technical support when they broke down.

    Cons

There were only maybe 5-7 agents available to answer calls at one time for supporting the entire US and Canada. The call volume was about 1,000 calls a day so be prepared to answer at least 100 phone calls every day. The average hold time for customers was about 30 min so be prepared for really pissed off customers who have been waiting on hold. The customers will take their anger out on you and the manager will punish you for it. The work hours were long because you spent 8 hours answering phone calls and worked over time for another 4 hours to complete administration work. Expect to work 12 hour days most days of the week. The sales reps required your assistance multiple times a day and if you could not get to their question within an hour they will report you to the manager and get you in trouble. The level of stress in this environment was extremely high. I would not recommend this place to work to anyone.

    Advice to Management

Perform a process improvement analysis to evaluate why the abandonment rate is so high and help improve customer satisfaction. If you want to reduce the employee turn over rate, pay the call center employees a higher salary, equivalent to the amount of work they produce.
