    Pros

    Next to the dictionary definition of a good company to work for, you will find the name Epsilon.
    Benefits are well balanced. The company pays better salaries for better certs/skills, and will even pay for employees education. Management is hands-on, and will constantly work with you to make sure you are happy doing your job. You are not just left out to flounder by yourself.

    Cons

    I have worked for Epsilon as a temp employee and as a full time employee, and I have NOTHING I can say is a negative

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you are doing! Make sure you hire employees who meet the criteria of the job, and keep up the good work.

    Pros

    A forward-thinking company. Progressive in many aspects, very attuned to advances in technology, and a good partner for local industry. A decent place to begin an IT career.

    Cons

    Very little organization in the commercial side. Often times service desk employees would be wrapped up in phone calls only to get pulled away at a moment's notice, leaving the client's issue unresolved or poorly documented.

    Tyrannical upper management (commercial and federal included) helped foster a culture of fear and distrust. Disagreeing or trying to course correct the CEO is an absolute dead end. Depending on the department and project, employees were routinely screamed at by the CEO over the phone with little to no positive criticism given.

    Advice to Management

    Hire someone to oversee the commercial division and lose the ego. This company will win with trusting the right people, not trying to overthrow those who might present better ideas for the long run.

    Pros

    Senior engineers and junior staff are all quite talented and a good team to work with

    I hear the federal side of this company is a pretty good work environment but the commercial side is a different story.

    Cons

    Commercial team is overwhelmed constantly by sheer volume, management routinely refuses to hire adequate number of personnel to handle volume of clients they constantly push to increase. They are attempting to run an MSP with a skeleton crew and instead assert that a team of 5 people or less should be able to handle a client base that is many, many times that number. I was on this service desk during normal weekdays when we would only have 2 people there for several hours.

    No opportunity for advancement

    Starts MSP help desk employees at $12/hour which is below living wage in Asheville. This is nothing short of a complete insult to skilled workers with degrees and often times experience.

    President of commercial operations is a tyrant who routinely fires people who have had no prior disciplinary or performance problems, creating a climate of fear for workers who constantly feel their livelihoods and the well being of their families are at stake . . . with good reason, because they are when you work for someone like this.

    No clearly defined job duties

    There was absolutely NO formal training process when I came into this job. It was literally, "Sit and watch us for a while and good luck". Really nice business strategy.

    No formal track for advancement or clearly defined expectations of performance for consideration for advancement

    Poor communication in general, likely mostly due to the sheer volume of things

    A complete "Fly by the seat of you pants" environment with extremely poor and lacking documentation for client networks. No one there has time to adequately document client networks and infrastructure, though this is a best practice in the industry. A client will call you and say, "System A is broken you need to fix it." You will consult your documentation and find that often times there is none. Then you will start trying to track down individual employees who might have the specific knowledge, all while continuing to have a mountain of calls and tickets flood in every day. This is completely the status quo at this company. The word disorganized doesn't seem adequate to describe this place.

    Health insurance is available but not really affordable on the wages they pay . . . when you're making $12/hour, good luck making ends meet with the huge chunk of money you will see come out of your checks.

    Stop treating people so poorly

    Pros

    Understanding. The managers will work with you if they think there is a problem. But sometimes we all get blind sided.

    Cons

    Not always willing to work with you when the prime decides to get rid of you.

    Advice to Management

    When the prime contract lets someone go, and doesn't give you a reason, make sure you don't blind side, and then screw your employee out of vacation time.

    Pros

    The job is dependent on where you are assigned. Epsilon is just there to take a cut off of the contract payment.

    Cons

    Some of the Project Managers can be very testy.

    Work on making the workers feel more needed.

    Upper Management is very personable and makes you feel like part of the family.

    Cons

    Short term contracts with the DoD are norm. Job security is lacking on these types of contracts.
