I have been working at Equinox Fitness part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Equinox is a great company to work for as a personal trainer who is new to the field. Lots of in house continuing education options as well as great support from management for professional development.

    Cons

Money is really tight (not a livable wage if you don't live with your parents) until you ramp up to full time. This ramping period can be anywhere from 5 months to a year. There is high turnover for this reason

    Advice to Management

Put as much energy as possible into ramping trainers if you want to help turnover rates. Develop the staff you have as much as possible before hiring a batch of new trainers

I worked at Equinox Fitness full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

free gym membership, sales training experience in NY, Chris Usiak national sales manager might be one of the most influencial people ive ever met.

    Cons

Managers play favorites, dirty bathrooms, hours 9am-9pm end of every month

    Advice to Management

Salespeople working there for years choose the leads that belong to them usually claiming anyone who has ever been there. Longtime employees usually know the loopholes to trick new employees/ steal sales/ steal leads that often lead to dissatisfaction with our actual jobs and the resolution usually turns out bad because the management usually sides with the person who's making the sales.

I worked at Equinox Fitness full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Gain access to clients and learn what not to do for training clients.

    Cons

Focuses only on "functional fitness" Micro-management is huge here. They love to make you work ridiculously long hours wearing the blue shirt. The location I worked at was nearly impossible to find clients that way. The managers played favorites and would send leads to their friends instead of evenly distributing them. Huge turn over rates among new hired trainers.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to manage without breathing down the new hires necks. Give them room to blossom into their strengths. Not everyone is going to use the Equinox cookie cutter way of training.
