I worked at Equinox Fitness part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free gym membership, networking, eucalyptus hand towels, orchids, good looking co-workers, allows you to have enough money for a hot dog or two.

    Cons

Lipstick on a pig. Only work here if you have a real job somewhere else with actual benefits like insurance or decent wages. The clientele is remarkably the worst kind of wealthy.

    Advice to Management

Listen when people critique you. Provide living wages and benefits to all workers.

I have been working at Equinox Fitness full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Bartering within the club
    Free membership
    Flexible hours
    No micro managing

    Cons

They expect so much from you when they pay you literally minimum wage
They dont care about the spa at all. The only time they so care is when they ask you for the numbers
    Expected to work all holidays

    Advice to Management

We understand that members go to Equinox to work out and not for the spa but as licensed massage therapists and estheticians this is our career. Management should really take care of all departments because everyone in the spa gets discouraged and feel unappreciated. You should really learn how to value your employees and not just think about hitting quota.

I have been working at Equinox Fitness part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff is fun. You can work out at the gym, but limited access during certain times and no classes. Better to be an outreach person. If you put in the time you can move up fast. Mainly because there is a revolving door in all the locations. You can easily switch departments.

    Cons

The pay is ridiculously low for the amount of time need to perform the job correctly and get managers bonus. There is zero transparency between departments. My GM didn't even understand the understand the hours I was supposed to work - P/T! Actually heard an AGM tell an employee "you are all replaceable" because employee wasn't making enough money and needed a second job or would have to quit. This happened while on the floor... at the front desk... in front of other employees and members.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Equinox Fitness full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The energy is always very positive and welcoming. You get a free gym membership and amazing spa discounts, wich in NYC is very very pricey, and many can't afford that luxury. It has long-term career potential with extensive room for growth and movement.

    Cons

As someone who's fitness regiment is based around dance, circus arts (lyra, trapeze, hula hoop fitness), the gym atmosphere was a little intimidating at first. Explaining to my co-workers why I dont utilize my free membership other than to use the empty dance studios wasn't easy at first. Now I am training 2 of my co-workers with hoop fitness classes :D
