You're better off at a different gym

    Pros

The benefits of having a gym membership is easily the best part.

    Cons

Cliquey behavior from grown adults, you're required to remain standing the entire shift (not bad for 4 hours, but miserable if you're working 8 hours straight) and the people who use this gym act entitled even if a situation is completely out of your control.

    Membership Advisor

    Pros

I absolutely love the people who work for this company and I love working in a fitness environment. Most people that come to this company are highly motivated and are striving for something more. Plus you get to work in a gym environment - no stuffy offices. Having a free gym membership is awesome and having the ability to workout during work is great. Another plus is getting to meet people everyday.

    Cons

Payment structure is based on bonuses. Unless you can find a way to always hit well above your sales goal, you won't make much money. I went into the job really optimistic and still am, however, after a year of ups and downs, I have to be honest with myself about the money I'm (not) making. As a membership advisor the base salary is extremely low (can vary by type of club). Most of your money will come from commissions and bonuses. Just hitting your sales goal is not enough to make good money. Another tough aspect of the job is the scheduling. Unless you are at a midtown club that is closed on the weekends, you will often be working Saturdays and Sundays. On top of that, your shift will vary by day. If you like routine, this will be tough. In addition, you often won't have two days off in a row, except maybe once a month. Most days I tend to work late, making it tough to meet with friends after work.

    Pros

Free gym membership; beautiful work space

    Cons

Terrible pay....unfair when you see how much they charge for a massage. The BodyLab360 totally takes advantage of massage therapists

    Front desk at Equinox Fitness

    Pros

The staff is great.. Free gym membership and 40% off of the spa and shop.

    Cons

The front desk is super stressful. Someone really needs to have 8 arms to keep up with the check-ins, phone and spa. Plus, members complain to us first. It would be easier to work there if I wasn't paid so little to deal with so much.

    Customer Service for The Shop

    Jun 4, 2018 - Shop Employee

    Pros

Reasons for working for the company boil down to a gym membership and coworkers are generally friendly and nice.

    Cons

When you work in The Shop you are the only one working so you can't leave the shop unattended. The front desk covers shop breaks and not all front desks factor a break for The Shop into their schedule. I rarely got a 15 min break and sometimes didn't get a lunch break. No one seemed to care.

    Pros

The only pro is that you get as free gym membership and the other employees are generally pretty great. There is some room for growth, but growing in this company is not worth it. You either don't make much more or make LESS. For example, you get paid minimum wage at the front desk and from there you could become a personal trainer or sales rep, but both of these are almost purely commission.

    Cons

Expect to get paid like a waitress, treated like a car salesman and expected to dress and look like a celebrity. Although co-workers are awesome, most management is awful and fairly evil. The trainers
