    I worked at Erbert & Gerbert's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    tips, food discounts, flexible hours

    Cons

Management does not resolve employee complaints. Shift leads are barely out of high school, have no customer service skills and treat delivery drivers and team members like slaves. Leads also do not train and will say " i don't want to train you". Shift leads are lazy and constantly complaining about management and other workers behind their back and only work when the manager is on the premises. There is no team in I. Delivery drivers not only work register (which they are not supposed to because they don't get the in store tips they generate), they work the sandwich counter, phones, and if unlucky to get closing shift, perform ALL closing duties while leads sit on their butt. A delivery driver will be out on several runs and the shift leads are alone in the store and have two customers and call the delivery driver demanding they hurry back. It wont matter that it is snow and ice out either. If it is slow in the store and the delivery driver is out on runs that doesn't change the fact the shift lead will do nothing and when the driver returns they are demanded to do dishes and mop, sweep, take out trash, clean bathrooms and perform stocking duties. The delivery driver is only getting paid more by tips, IF the customer gives them. Delivery drivers are told it is their call on whether or not to drive in severe weather. That is a lie. Drivers will work in extreme weather and expected to perform just as fast as on non severe weather days. In store workers answering the phones, including leads, do not care to take down PERTINENT information such as the location. When a customer calls and says they don't know their address or are drunk and when addresses are incorrectly entered how is a delivery driver supposed to find the customer? The delivery driver gets blamed. The turnover is ridiculous. Lastly, E&B delivers to the security hospital which will slow a driver down by up to 30 minutes! All these concerns will be presented to the manager and nothing is resolved.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring just anyone who comes in off the street. Pay attention to your employees needs and listen. Fire people who CLEARLY steal. Stop playing games. Stop delivering to the Security Hospital. Maintain store equipment! Pay delivery drivers more and support them! Anything shared with management should be confidential. Shift leads need to be held accountable. Shift leads should be at least 5 years out of High School, work just as hard if not harder than their team to set an example, be semi-mature and clear of a criminal history. If a shift lead is constantly blaming others that is a reflection of their work ethic. A good team leader is able to resolve issues with their team. Get a dishwasher!! All these problems are a reflection of E&B business practices.

    I worked at Erbert & Gerbert's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers were laid back for the most part, but this was in a college town.
Hours were very flexible, as long as you're into that.

    Cons

Slicing meat, especially the roast beef, was disgusting. I will never buy a meat sandwich at one of those chains ever again.
The only reason one would work there is for the money, yet they pay minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Your entire operation is unsustainable, but at least you dont fund conservatives like jimmy johns does.
