I have been working at Ergobaby full-time

    Pros

The management team really cares about employees and they work hard to offer training and clear goals and objectives. The CEO is accessible and fair and provides guidance to employees.

    Cons

    Parking in DTLA (very expensive).

    Advice to Management

    Continue to seek employee feedback.

I worked at Ergobaby full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Looks promising during your first few months.

    Good products.

If you find the right clique of coworkers you will at least enjoy coming in to the office.

Some managers care about their team.

Great pay and benefits for managers.

Mission statement and company values are worthwhile.

    Cons

Upper management enjoys great pay, flexible work schedule, and the ability to work from home. Hourly employees are not afforded any of the same benefits. The gap between management and lower level staff is painfully obvious.

Rigid definition of job roles, little room for growth or movement even within your own position.

This company has a lot of growing pains as it transitions to a medium sized company. Employees are not encouraged to share new ideas or change processes as they are shot down before being considered. VERY SLOW to change. Too many meetings to discuss changes that need to be made swiftly. Slow to communicate important information to all employees in a department.

There are a few bad managers who are clearly not going anywhere and have no interest other than collecting their paycheck. Trust your gut during your interview. If you have a bad feeling about the manager or the way they speak to you, know that this sets the stage for your working relationship.

Company wide goals of improving engagement and morale and offering more training and growth opportunities to employees are presented as a positive thing. Just as with everything else with this company, changes will take a long time to trickle down.

Very high turnover and new employees jump ship quickly when they recognize that their skills and interests won't be utilized in their new positions.

    Advice to Management

Employee engagement is a two way street. GIVE generously to employees and they will give back to you. Offer incentives and bonuses to hourly employees. Offer work from home to ALL employees or take it away from everyone. Treat employees as if you work WITH them, not that they work FOR you.

Good employees will not stay loyal if you do not invest in them.

Company should pay 100% of parking or transit for employees.

Look at what can be done to improve morale, culture, and engagement now. Stop looking at lower level employees as scapegoats. There are still many gaps that need to be bridged. The mission statement and company values are set with good intentions. Try to build a culture around that.

HIRE PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THE COMPANY AND INDUSTRY RATHER THAN PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME JOB TITLE IN AN UNRELATED INDUSTRY BEFORE! You can train someone on job responsibilities but you cannot teach someone to give a care about your cause.

    Pros

Easy product to learn. It was run like a start up but changed to more corporate after the buy out of Orbit Baby.

    Cons

Go back to the startup feel of the company it's better than the corporate mindset.

    I worked at Ergobaby full-time

    Pros

    - Amazing space for women to thrive under the right management
    - Supportive workplace that is understanding of family needs/ cares about general well being of their employees
    - Upper management is accessible
    - If you are a self starter with the desire to work hard and learn they will let you explore and push your position into new heights.
    - Flexible
-Great space to establish a career in the baby industry

    Cons

-The promotion cycle is not clear or competitive within the market
    - Management tends to not shift around and so growth is very limited
-There is a strong disconnect in the work load of certain employees and this can cause a burnout due to not being promoted/ things falling on them

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to promote and support those under you who are doing good work. It is okay to change your process for a better one.
Realize that creating a priority structure for those who are in upper management over those who are doing the work creates a negative work environment.

    Pros

A great CEO who provides good leadership in trying to steer the company to the right direction.

    Cons

Parking is not covered and is really expensive in downtown LA

    Advice to Management

Try to empathize more with managers when KPI do not meet up to expectations. Empathize by rolling up your sleeves and help mentor your managers.

I have been working at Ergobaby full-time

    Pros

    - CEO is fair and accessible; she really cares about the employees
    - great employee events
    - great benefits
    - works to give back to the community
    - relaxed working environment
    - friendly employees
    - casual dress code
    - good for people who take initiative to thrive and learn a lot

    Cons

    - parking in DTLA is expensive (wish they would subsidize or cover the cost)
    - we could all do better at communicating the overall vision

    Advice to Management

It's great when you let your team know their roles are appreciated! It always helps to have an overview of what the company does as a whole so more communication on that front is helpful. It's definitely a work in progress, but I see the positive changes!

I worked at Ergobaby full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The job was an easy one but the atmosphere was intense and stressful. Unqualified employees brought down the work environment.

    Cons

The company was acquired and the start up atmosphere was lost. It was so corporate and stuffy after that.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees with the respect that they deserve. Reward performance with monetary compensation.

    Pros

If you happen to land in a good team, you'll have a great time and learn a lot.

    Cons

There are a lot of managers that are downright bad at their job, and a ridiculously high turnaround.

I have been working at Ergobaby full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Ergobaby has a relaxed and fun office environment. Lots of teamwork and company sponsored events. There have been a lot of new hires and new opportunities as the company continues to grow.

    Cons

Due to the office ease - it takes a certain personality to thrive here. Independent workers and people who have initiative and drive can be successful here. Otherwise it seems some people get lost in the shuffle.
