I have been working at Erickson Living full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity to advance due to company growth plans and development of second teams. Strong relational culture built around providing residents with the most authentic and compassionate care. Incredible alignment of mission to every day practice. Allows me to feel like my job serves a bigger purpose. I want to come to work every day.

    Cons

Sometimes difficult to change long standing processes. With multiple sites throughout the country, hard to visit in person with teams on a regular basis.

    Advice to Management

Continue to foster an environment of collaboration and openness to ideas; our future is bright so long as we continue to hire the right people to help us grow.

I have been working at Erickson Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Values based company, fairly flexible with work hours, work from home at times, decent salaries, bonuses, and value sharing (like profit sharing), management is generous with company resources,

    Cons

Too too many meetings, lack of accountability with senior leaders, transparency is not always present, too many layers of management, lack of helpful/clear feedback from managers, lots of turnover,

    Advice to Management

Keep working to improve from engagement survey suggestions, listen to your employees, and please stop laying people off without solid reasons. This creates a workplace filled with fear and people become reactive and look for other more stable opportunities.

    Pros

Originally a mom and pop shop type of feel, there is still some of that. Some of the original people try to maintain the old warm environment backed behind simple values.

    Cons

Unfortunately good things do come to an end. A bankruptcy caused the company to change management. It is about an average type of company had too many hands in the cookie jar for this one.

    Advice to Management

Seek the advice and opinions of your workers at all levels.

    Pros

It is nice seeing the same residents everyday. You build relationships with them and they become like family.

    Cons

The pay could be much better. The increments for the raises are terrible. The company values the corporate and upper level employees more than anything. It is hard to advance within the company because they mostly only hire outside employees.

    Advice to Management

External managers need to learn how this company works instead of trying to enforce outside views onto people.

I have been working at Erickson Living part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You get to know the residences very well. They begin to look out for you if you make friends with them. If your a student, after working there two years you can apply for the student scholarship. They will give you 1,200/ per year for four years of full time schooling at a college/university. If you work for the company for 10 years they give you $1,000 or $10,000??? not sure which???

    Cons

No place to grow in this specific campus area. For a part time employee we don't get all the full time employee benefits. Management is constantly disorganized continuously going down hill for the past 4 years. Lots of favoritism and only get recognition if you suck up to management, not if you actually work hard and down what your job. Constant turn over of employees who don't want to stay.

    Advice to Management

Be clear about rules. Uphold the rules you want us to follow. Make sure all the management agrees to uphold those rules. Be more aware of your employees that are not getting as much recognition but doing their job without complaint. Stop treating your employees like your their parents. Be professional and not soo personable all the time. Care about your employees!
