    Pros

    Union Benefits. Work Life Balance.

    Cons

This is not a disgruntled review!!! I Actually Resigned. If you are accustomed to a progressive, Corporate and fiscally responsible, environment....DON'T go to ECMC. You will be sorely disappointed. IT team members waste a lot of time shooting dart guns and talking sports (with the a couple of exceptions). Very sexist team. They also love creating rumors. It will be difficult to see past the daily wasted resource time. Very political. Team members will not bring you into the fold of "good" technical work unless you somehow become part of their very tight "good old boy mentality". Be prepared to talk a lot hockey/sports, and don't rock the technical boat to add improvements. Political Capital and Opinions go further with management than sound, data driven, technical advice. If you stay in the IT/systems department too long, your "street value" will certainly decrease. But if your ready to sit back and wait for retirement....got for it!!! Not much room for advancement for women or minorities. The pictures on the department walls will tell the story.

I have been working at Erie County Medical Center full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Coworkers, pension- truly all I can think of. Twenty word minimum is hard to meet. I’ll say it again , coworkers and pension .

    Cons

There are more middle managers than nurses to take care of patients. Administration always expects more with less. Patient satisfaction is a priority but how can the nursing staff provide all the needs for the patient when they’re aren’t enough of us to take care of even the minimum let alone go above and beyond. Staff satisfaction is at an all time low throughout the hospital, but no one is irreplaceable and we all can tell this is the attitude of management.

I have been working at Erie County Medical Center part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The only pro I have is that there is a pension.

    Cons

This employer doesn't care about it's patients or employees. I work at Terraceview and can't wait to move to the hospital. Staffing always pressuring you to work extra shifts then they leave you to be responsible for an entire unit alone. It's not safe and employess are constantly worried about something happening and losing license because they don't staff properly.

    Cons

Always short staffed. Lopsided patient loads with NO Ancillary staff! Who ever heard of RN's also doing the job of HA all shift, every shift?? Patient care and safety always compromised.
