I have been working at Erlanger Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - if you're looking to further your knowledge for a more in depth career in the medical field, you would be hard-pressed to find a place better suited, in terms of patient load and variety and attitude towards education, than erlanger baroness campus. Whether you are a tech or transporter, you will be in close contact with patients of all sorts.
    - the pay is always above minimum wage
    - central dispatch is an amazing department. The work load is more reasonable than other's, and the management is agreeable and friendly.

    Cons

    - it is exceedingly busy. The patient turnover is ridiculous, and every position there has to keep up. As a transporter you will walk your legs off.

    Advice to Management

    - hire more people. The hospital could honestly do much more if there were more staff. The reason we are on the edge of being understaffed is for the sake of productivity. But, it seems to me that with more staff patients would come and go quicker.

I have been working at Erlanger Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working there gives knowledge. Everyday is a chance to learn if you treat it that way. You work closely with nurses and doctors, and have the opportunity to ask tons of questions and watch many things. The benefits aren't too bad

    Cons

Way too under staffed!! Most days you come in you have 19 patients and on a good day you have 13. It's way too many patients to actually provide adequate care. Then it's always our fault and pressuring us to meet industry standards on the lowest of staffing numbers. The nurses are also very short handed with 8 patients some days. The equipment is very old and outdated, and they are only giving anything new to one of the newly built wings on a campus in another part of the city. They put very little money into each floor. The overall look and quality doesn't feel very advanced as they would like for you to believe. The pay isn't that great I get paid less than a unit clerk who has absolutely no formal training for their job, and received no experience pay.

    Advice to Management

Change management all together, and start making some improvements and treat your employees like you actually want to keep them around and not like they're expendable. Because from the turnover rates you can clearly tell they are not getting the treatment they deserve.

    Pros

Good Pay, great people and tons of learning experiences.

    Cons

Company is moving in several different directions and despite your hiring agreement they may have you travel to other states. This is an evolving issue and is expected to continue as the Hospital grows. Don't take this job unless you want to travel.

    Advice to Management

Be up front with employees regarding all expectations and honor hiring agreement.

    Pros

Very few other than steady paycheck

    Cons

Erlanger has an attitude of failure and insists on running off the best persons they ever had. If they had all of the good talent they have run off, there would be no better medical facility on earth.

    Pros

    hours not bad
    plenty of potential job opportunities
    good food options
    Starbuck's
    yup that's about it

    Cons

    Insulting pay rate
    Management was never actually there
the co-workers were like being back in high school and the drama that comes with it
ridiculous rules/limitations for CCMA's in a practice setting not on the floor

    Advice to Management

Be there! and pay your staff what they deserve, especially if you;r only going to hire one MA per doctor triaging ALL the patients. and based off their experience. It is insulting what you pay your MA's "starting out"
