I worked at Esalen Institute part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great perks like scholarships for massage and workshops. Diverse backgrounds of staff, faculty and customers. Model for sustainable and eco-conscious living.

    Cons

Poor upper management structure. Lack of clear communication at times. Low salaries.

    Advice to Management

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Esalen Institute full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Living on the gorgeous Esalen property, access to many educational workshops, amazing community.

    Cons

The management has consistently been poor. Power hungry managers that lack compassion, teamwork, or basic leadership skills. I don't understand how a CEO could hire so many terrible managers. It's the most dysfunctional place I've ever worked at.

    Advice to Management

Hire people that actually have the skills and character that align with what you claim are esalen values. Invest in the community!
