I worked at Eskenazi Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, several departments have good leaders, learning organization, diverse work environment, compassionate and intelligent medical staff, environmental stewards, encourages healthy life style, mission of organization

    Cons

Patient Acces leadership rules with an iron fist and treats well-educated adults like children to make their own jobs easier. The listening skills of leadership are very limited. At times it seems that they ask questions not to help you but to find ways to attack you. The current director comes across as untrust worthy and manipulative. The associate director takes a militaristic approach to his employees put plays the role of a politician when in a public setting. Stay away from the Patient Access side of revenue cycle at Eskenazi Health and you will enjoy your career.

    Advice to Management

Engage in active listening, you are no less and no more important than your employees, provide constructive feedback, rounding is a chance for you to help your employees succeed not a chance for you to provide ammo to target those you do not like, remember to read Hardwiring Excellence ( it will guide you through the rounding process), bring all stake holders to the table when making decisions (not just stakeholders that you agree with), learn from your mistakes

I worked at Eskenazi Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good case managers and team leaders

    Cons

End running of complaints or concerns to higher ups by some of the RNs was unhealthy and disappointing to the point I had to quit out of disgust

    Advice to Management

OPEN COMMUNICATION! NO END RUNNING BEHIND BACKS! If psychiatric nurses cannot be openly forthcoming with concerns they need to go into another line of work.

I have been working at Eskenazi Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are great. Eskenazi follows it mission closely and values self-care. Eskenazi employees that are on campus have a lot of great resources.

    Cons

Compensation is not great. If you don't work on campus access to self-care activities, such a gym, fitness classes, and wellness coach, can be a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Pay staff members as individuals, not based on an equation. I don't feel that I am paid based on my performance and skills.
