I have been working at Essendant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They are really good about working with you when time off is needed. You also get 2.5 weeks of paid time off to start which goes up every 5 years.

    Cons

Upper management has become quite dysfunctional over the past few years. There has been a steady decline in support and consistency. Also, people are quitting left and right and management still cannot figure out that they are the issue.

    Advice to Management

Start treating the employees as adults and peers not children. It would be more beneficial and make the employees want to stay if you were less focused on games and food and more focus on stats and people's work ethics.

    Cons

Too much work for the pay Lower Management under pressure from upper Management Favoritism among managements Lazy co-workers, Employees basically clock in and hide in the corner and sleep.

    Advice to Management

Reward people based on performance and not longivity because so many people take advantage of it.

    I worked at Essendant full-time

    Pros

Great Benefits and fair pay structure. Fantastic distribution capabilities within the lower 48 states. Large selection of products to choose from.

    Cons

Constant changes in upper management. Each change brought on new challenges facing the company, customer and consumer. Many of these changes had an immediate negative impact

    Advice to Management

Look at ways to stabilize the situation. Try to view the changes through the eyes of both the customer and the end consumer. Ask about the potential effects of the changes before making them.

I worked at Essendant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Family oriented, nice amount of PTO and vacation days, good benefits, flexible schedule and bosses willing to work around family needs.

    Cons

Low pay and small rate increases, upper management is unresponsive and often unavailable. favoritism plays a heavy hand and lowers morale.

    Advice to Management

Be more attentive to employees and get out of the offices more to see what is actually going on on the work floor.

I worked at Essendant full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You might get a paycheck.... But even that is absolutely not what they originally committed. They allow operations to do whatever they want and then talk behind their backs about them. One HR person actually said she hated people!

    Cons

Human resources has the worst leaders and the lack of professionalism from every HR person is disgusting! Essendant should be ashamed of the narcissistic egotistical people they have running that department! I have never worked somewhere where the least trusted people are in HR and upper management. You cannot trust anything they say and they are only in it for them. No strategic ability to lead a business at all,... period! They are the worst HR group I have ever interacted with, especially the high level HR people! Absolutely horrible!
