There are great opportunities for growth and movement. It is a great place to build your experience in sales and office administration.
Cons
Unfortunately I do not believe the work load is matched with equal pay. In a push for excellent customer service, which is a must, the overall appreciation for the employees fell wayside.

Pros
I lived in an Essex community while I was in college and they were hiring for a summer position as a leasing specialist. I got the job and never looked back, even after graduating, I choose to stick with Essex because it is such a great company to work for! There is a lot of opportunity for growth because there are so many properties to move around to. Once you master your position, you can move on to the next opportunity, I like that I never feel stagnant in my career here. I have worked for other property management companies in the past, and comparatively, I like the structure here at Essex much more. I feel like I know what is expected of me and that Essex provides me with the right tools to do my job. Overall, I think this is a great company and I'm happy to work here.
Cons
It can be difficult to find coverage, Essex could benefit from an expanded Floating team.

Pros
Essex truly promotes from within! Loyalty is important to the company and they repay associates for their loyalty by offering plenty of opportunities for movement and growth. Associates are eligible to apply for promotions after just 6 months! Customer care really supports management when handling resident issues.
Cons
There is no on boarding for newly promoted Community Managers or Maintenance Supervisors. In person training is limited. Policies are constantly changing and its sometimes hard to keep up with new updates and the work load.

Managers and regionals are always available to talk/ hear your concerns and to know about where you want to be or how to advance yourself in the company. The company provides great opportunities to get to acquainted with other properties and other managers from other sites for potential growth. If you are a hard working person and strive to grow, you will get the chance to showcase your skills and your managers will always uplift you to higher positions and won't hinder your growth.

At times the work load can be a lot & compensation can always be improved but that is with any job.
