Honestly the best place to work in Tampa!
Aug 25, 2012 - Insurance Sales Agent in Tampa, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Esurance's employees have voted them "Top Places to Work in Tampa" 3 years in a row. That's because middle managment is right there for their employees. I love working here and advancement is really in my own hands. If I work hard and ask for direction, I know I can advance within a year or two! I work in sales and my shift, pay, and advancement are really up to me and how hard I work. All of the current management, trainers, and support staff all started right where I am. I love that!! They understand what I go through every day and help me through tough days.
Cons
The Sales Director is very strong willed and pretends to want feedback but really he doesnt take feedback from anyone. It's his way or no way and I dont believe he has call center experience or sales experience at that. He seems to like change and it's almost a weekly thing. I've been working in the same small office (200 employees I think) as him for the last year and he doesnt even know I'm in sales or my name. My manager does a good job of explaining the reasons and he works hard to keep me focusing on the right things.

If you can't find anything else at that moment, then apply...but keep looking.

A champion of Marriage Equality & Free Pizza. I truly wish I can say something else positive about the company......seriously.
Cons
First, let me begin by saying the post left on Aug. 7, 2013 by title "Don't do it, you'll regret it..." is right on the money in terms of whats wrong with the Sales Division. And I would like to expand on some of the points mentioned. If you happen to be a top salesperson & don't really show any issues with the calls that are coming in...they will send you the hardest states to write in..a la..MI, FL, NY...until your numbers get low enough that you blend in with the company median. No matter what they say...please trust me...there is a wizard behind the curtain from the Land of Oz pulling the lever's. As well as the fact that I have witnessed other teams cheat the system to the point in which it's common knowledge among the rep's. Those two factor's really destroy the integrity of the compensation plan and create a toxic environment that breeds mistrust & malice. In terms of turnover, it has been extremely high ever since I began there to the point it's become a corporate norm. Last but not least...Management, some of the manager's really do try their best given the lack of support their given...and some simply do not have good people skill's...

An amazing company to work for if you do things the "esurance way"
Sep 26, 2013 - Insurance Sales Agent in Mesa, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Starting from the top, management is amazing. Great fun people. The coaching/training is superb, and they just wanna make sure that you are accommodated and happy. Esurance is a growing company, and its one that wont stop growing for a while. The phones never stop ringing, so your opportunity to sell and make a living are great. During busy months they seem to offer endless amounts of overtime, and that can come in handy. They make it fair. You are compensated based off of your performance. They are a true professional company that is looking to take over the industry with a new "technological" way of doing insurance. Co workers are happy and fun, the company itself is fun. I guess esurance can be described as "home" Opportunity to grow and advance is present, especially in the phoenix office where they just purchased a new call center building and are looking to fill it up.
Cons
You do the same thing all day for 8 hours a day, so it can become a little repetitive. You have to make your selling and personality stand out.

For a sales job not where u want to be
Jun 30, 2017 - Sales in Sioux Falls, SDRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great atmosphere in the office had some great managers that taught great selling skills. Work from home is also a benefit to agents
Cons
When I started 3 years ago top selling agents were making $5000 to $7000 a month in bonus then a new compensation plan comes out still top agents could earn $3000 and above now with being profitable which means laying people off and cutting sales agents bonuses now top agents for the most part will make $1200 to $2000 a month with a few exceptions from maybe 3 or 4 agents who may make more. We did get more money in our base pay but it doesn't add up to the lost money in bonus payout. A lot of agents are leaving but I think this was the plan all along to have agents quit without Esurance laying more people off. In just 3 years this company went from the best place to work to now looking for a new job.
Continue readingThank you for your feedback. The associate experience is one of our key priorities and creating a great atmosphere is very important to us. We also take great pride in our work at home program and consistently receive feedback on how much associates enjoy the ability to work from home. We are always looking to continue to improve on the associate experience and appreciate the feedback. Incentive is something we take very seriously and we are always keeping a close eye to ensure that we are compensating fairly, aligning our incentive plan with our key priorities which include delivering a great customer experience and driving profitable growth. Increasing the base pay for associates while still maintaining a monthly incentive that provides strong upside for associates who live into those priorities has created a healthy balance. We are committed to ensuring our associates are compensated fairly and competitively for the great work that they do.

Growing pains
Jul 19, 2013 - Insurance Sales Agent in Phoenix, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
They have worked on the work life balance in the Sales department. You a guaranteed a commission even without hitting qualifiers. There is potential for growth for the right individual. Majority of people are nice and will help wherever possible. Great first insurance job. No cold calling.
Cons
There is not as much overtime as there was in the past. The compensation plan works well only if you can cross sell all products of insurance. Majority of the partner products cannot be sold by the basic sales agent, it must be passed over to another agent. Management is only concerned about conversion and sales per day, not about quality unless there is a problem. Management does little to address the individual concern, instead they quote research as if that is the only fact to take into account. No uniform policy. Some management will say one thing, others will do the opposite. I have had arguments with management about processes and after a month of bantering the manager admitted they were wrong. No kickback on renewal business. Your book resets at the beginning of every month.

My Esurance Review
Feb 25, 2016 - Insurance Sales Agent in Tampa, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This is a fun company to work for, and I have been surrounded with colleagues that are tremendous human beings. You have lots of control over how much $$$ you make, and the training program is very comprehensive. I had zero sales/insurance experience when I started right out of college, and was promoted multiple times because I listened to the coaching I was given. Management will challenge you to reach your career development goals. Very inclusive atmosphere, lots of perks (as it is an Allstate Company). Company is growing, and is always trying to find the smartest way to operate. Lots of change occurs, welcome to 2016. New ideas are acknowledged and valued, even if they are not implemented instantly. Managers are friendly, realistic, and exemplify the core values of the company.
Cons
This company would not be the best fit for those who are unable to adapt to change, or for those who do not understand the concept of teamwork.

Run as fast as you can and don't look back!
Apr 18, 2014 - Sales Agent II in Rocklin, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
decent salary, some nice managers, if you are lucky, you will get a decent one.
Cons
Where to start.....Absolutely cut-throat....do not assume that 8.5 years of being a very good, hard-working employee will protect you from anything awful, because they do not care about you in any way. While it is common to have to continuously "prove" yourself in a sales environment, they are extreme in their disregard for long-time, good sales people. They do not value true "salespeople", and do not make any concessions to try to keep you happy. Forget making plans/commitments on your off days, because your schedule will change (and sometimes dramatically) every few months. Forget feeling any sense of security, you will have none, and you will have to continuously meet higher and higher expectations to not only receive a bonus, but to even keep your job. The Good news is that if you don't like something, it will almost always change, unfortunately, it will not be in your favor. As I said, run away as fast as you can to avoid the misery of this job!

Pros
The pay and benefits are competitive and we have very flexible scheduling with VTO and Flex, when its busy we even have OT opportunities. They allow me to work from home which helps me stay focused and I have dinner ready for when the kids get home, plus they pay for the equipment and a dedicated monthly internet line. I have worked here a few years and the company is growing to have better technology and we bundle home and auto now.
Cons
We have some pretty aggressive goals but that keeps us motivated to do better everyday. I would like to win more trips and recognition. Also to flex my schedule when I want more without having to call or log-in.

Sales Director
Thank you for your feedback! We’ve worked hard to ensure our scheduling is based on individual performance and that we have a healthy work-life balance. We continue to look for innovative ways to help our associates and our Work-at-Home program continues to be a win for both the organization and our associates. The great news is that, although a few of our goals may feel lofty, we have an overwhelming majority of our associates performing at or above expectations. We promise to continue to look for ways to help our associates improve their performance, and better support their career aspirations.
