    Pros

Friendly environment, good work staff that works with each other. Managers try to be proactive and help with training and are always available to answer questions.

    Cons

Rapid growth and continually under staffed. Continues to grow and continues to hire. Once person is hired for complement, one or two leave and are never fully staffed

    Pros

Really no pros here. The only pro i can think of is that is backed uo by Allstate as an established company with much more experience.

    Cons

No support for employees. Bad management. It's all about taking credit for themselves while others do the heavy lifting. Low morale. Fear of retaliatiin. Some kind of discrimination. Managers wait until last minute to say what's wrong instead of empowering and encouraging employees to perform better and advance. Practically no opportunities for advancement. Practically no perks.

    Growing... Growing... and STILL GROWING!

    Pros

Esurance is backed by the largest publicly held insurance in the United States. After Allstate purchased us, we have been growing like crazy! The enviroment is amazing to be around and we have had 4 new managers promoted in less than 6 months. All of which came from being on the slaes floor. We have recently moved into a new building which is almost full after 3 months. The employees are fun to be around and I find it hard to leave because you want to hang out and talk to co-workers. If you are looking for career opportunites then Esurance is where you want to be and Tampa , FL is one of the best call centers, management teams, sales agents that I have ever had the pleasure to work with in my career.

    Cons

Growing to fast has it's issues but we are working through answering those phones.

Honestly the best place to work in Tampa!

    Pros

Esurance's employees have voted them "Top Places to Work in Tampa" 3 years in a row. That's because middle managment is right there for their employees. I love working here and advancement is really in my own hands. If I work hard and ask for direction, I know I can advance within a year or two! I work in sales and my shift, pay, and advancement are really up to me and how hard I work. All of the current management, trainers, and support staff all started right where I am. I love that!! They understand what I go through every day and help me through tough days.

    Cons

The Sales Director is very strong willed and pretends to want feedback but really he doesnt take feedback from anyone. It's his way or no way and I dont believe he has call center experience or sales experience at that. He seems to like change and it's almost a weekly thing. I've been working in the same small office (200 employees I think) as him for the last year and he doesnt even know I'm in sales or my name. My manager does a good job of explaining the reasons and he works hard to keep me focusing on the right things.

    Cons

Stressful call center environment with managers that are numbers driven and don't care about the people that work under them.

    Customer Service Representative

    Pros

Flex time when available. Casual dress. Work at available if your numbers are good. 8 hr or 10 hr shifts available. If you're lucky enough to get one of the few awesome supervisors, they'll go to bat for you and try to give you additional (much needed) breathers, but in turn, they get a lot of slack for it. Site manager is AMAZING and always accessible.

    Cons

Mundane, repetitive, absolutely no employee pride in brand, low pay compared to other call centers in area. High turnover rate which in turn increases customer hold time and frustration once you get the call.

    Micromanaged to Exhaustion

Mar 1, 2014 - Sales Agent II in Tampa, FL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Esurance supports quite a few liberal ideals and liberal political and social agendas, and offers a casual-dress environment for employees. Employees are offered a work-at-home option after a certain duration of employment.

    Cons

Sadly, we've devolved from an organic culture to a mechanistic/hierarchial one over time. Work-related phone time is closely monitored, repeated emails are sent inquiring as to your whereabouts, and casual breaks outside predetermined times are discouraged and associates are disciplined. (For sales positions,) paid time off cannot be used at the associates discretion without consequence; it can be used only when the scheduling department allows it. Even in the case of medical emergencies or family matters, one receives a demerit aka 'occurance' if an associate deviates from their daily schedule (unless approved by scheduling.) It won't matter if you're the top salesperson; slack is very rarely given. That's great if you're a machine, but moderately inconvenient if you have a family or medical issues (non-FMLA related.) The sales monthly structure constantly changes and becomes more and more complex for an associate to track. It's nearly impossible to come even close to estimating what your month-end bonus will be, even by examining empirical sales data (that is, until almost the end of the month.) Opportunities for advancement are somewhat limited, and favoritism runs rampart during the promotion process. Merits are rarely examined and candidates are oftentimes chosen before the promotion process even begins (the promotion interview process being a formality for legal purposes.) We have assistant managers promoted here who have less than a year of Esurance employment and very limited previous sales and management experience. That's tough to justify if they haven't been given enough time to prove their worth before the 'promotion interviews' , don't you think? Overall, the culture is tolerable if you're only looking for short to medium-term employment. Unfortunately, Esurance isn't the best option for long-term opportunities, and support for bettering oneself through higher education is a tedious and expensive process if one chooses to utilize the tuition-reimbursement process. If you need something to 'tie you over' until you find something better, then try us out! Otherwise, it's best to steer clear and find a company that will better value you.

IT Dev - H1B turmoil, very political

    Pros

Great location in SF financial district and free refreshments available at SF office.

    Cons

There is no chance for growth unless you are a suck-up or bootlicker. Low pay, expectation to work 24/7. Low employee morale and productivity as all sticking out until the immigration clears. Managers keen in the fat paycheck/huge bonus and overworking the teams. Managers don't take no as an answer from subordinates and will never say no to their seniors. Most managers are long tenured employees promoted within with outdated skills. Senior management repeatedly fails to understand how software development works, there is only focus on how the end result will be bug free. Highly political environment. No effort to get it done right. Plenty finger pointing. No clear accountability. No good decision taken by Senior management to fix or understand any issues.

    Don't say anything bad....

    Pros

Coworkers. Free coffee and tea. Cafe next door (location). Two personal holidays a year. Tuition reimbursement. Bonuses for getting certification like AIC or PMP

    Cons

Health benefits are essentially catastrophe insurance if you have a family. $6k deductible. Poor management-- regardless of how many times you ask for written directives they still refuse to commit anything in writing. You get marked down on audits for things that there is no reference to. Retaliation if you say anything negative in an employee survey. Two managers for the same unit- one gets mad if the other knows something before them and employees get caught in the cross hairs. Unprofessional and at times unethical managers in the unit. New method of liability makes liability adjusters' decisions more unethical than anything.

    Pros

Great health benefits and flexible schedules in certain positions.

    Cons

No career pathing if you are not best friend with hiring managers even if you're qualify for the position. No clear communications or feedbacks from direct reporting managers. Blockage of advancement by direct report supervisor. Supervisors have no people skills and they are disrespectful!
