Great place to begin a career in Sales
Jun 18, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Tampa, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Excellent, thorough training. Will learn the sales cycle from start to finish. Management is more than willing to help with personal development.
Cons
Commission structure is constantly changing. You will ultimately feel as though you cant go up the proverbial ladder without taking a significant pay cut.

Day in The Life of ESurance
Apr 11, 2019 - Associate Claims Advisor in Tampa, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great Pay (in comparison to other companies I've worked with the same job title) Flexible Schedule Great Training They are always providing FOOD! They are super supportive of their employees
Cons
Benefit Options Could Be A Bit Better Work Life Balance (In Claims However You Should Expect Working Long Hours and heavy Loads) That's working for any claims company

Not for some people
Jul 4, 2015 - Rapid Response Representative in Mesa, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
nice employees and nice building
Cons
That licensing test is very difficult. Management preaches that they will get you to pass but how and when? The way they use to do it was have the employees go through the 9 weeks of training then the licensing exam but now you have to complete the licensing 2 weeks into starting. A lot of employees told me they use to have someone help them with the exam so they could pass but not now. You WILL have to go through all of these Modules by yourself. The modules are very misleading and confusing. Others might have another view, but for the other people it may not be for you. The pay is great but it's not worth constantly taking that exam and being discouraged each time you fail. Plus, the reason i left is because i would of had to pay $100 to retake the exam each time until i pass. That isn't fair especially when there is very little help on the modules. The whole start of this process is stressful as heck. I warn others trying to work here, just double check and make sure you don't mind the heavy stress.

Licensed Sale Agent
May 27, 2016 - Licensed Sales Agent in Mesa, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great work environment, amazing co-workers, flexible schedule, and the ability to work from home. The pay is great and the ability for OT pay is usually always available which is great!!
Cons
The only cons would be that it is a call center. If you have family and have to work a late schedule then you would be missing valuable time with them

We appreciate our employees, I think not!
Sep 9, 2021 - Licensed Customer Service AgentRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You can work from home and they pay to help you get and maintain your license. Their short term disability benefit is a good benefit.
Cons
They are more concerned about how long you're on a call than whether your customer was fully taken care of. They also don't have holiday pay in the traditional sense. You get what they call deviated holidays. You get a number of paid days off to be used in place of the federal holidays whenever you want but there has to be time available. In my opinion that is just a way to not have to pay time and a half if you have to work a holiday. The management also claims they care about their employees and sends lame gifts to try to make up for the last year and a half of hell their choices caused for the front line employees. They will terminate employment for someone who is knowledgeable, dependable, thorough, and does their job just because average handle time is more than 950 seconds.

Don't do it, you'll regret it......
Aug 7, 2013 - Insurance Sales Agent in Mesa, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You don't take work home with you. When you're finished, you're finished. In this economy, any job is better than no job and I'm grateful I had this one too. Those are my pros.
Cons
Where to begin? Mesa Arizona is a 'first contact' site which means that you become the dumping ground for calls that the other sites don't want, but you're expected to sell the same number of policies as the other locations. Get ready to sell in Michigan and Florida all day every day. You'll understand why this is bad later down the road. Management will claim that it's the luck of the draw but it becomes clear very quickly that all agents from all the other sites sell two or three times the amount that any agent in Mesa sells. Even a good agent with lots of experience! The turnover now is insane because of how low the pay is and how messed up the comp plan is. In your interview ask them to show you the comp plan and you'll get the best dog and pony show you could imagine. I'm telling you this so you don't make my mistake and waste time here. Everything is micromanaged so not only do you not get much of a bonus or any bonus each month but you get hassled when you go into wrap for too long and you can get written up even if you sell 120 policies for the month! Just look on the job search sites and Esurance in Mesa is ALWAYS hiring. That should tell you everything you need to know right there. I left voluntarily and you can take this review as a bitter ex-employee or someone who is actually trying to help you make an informed decision. Getting the real story is something you won't get much of once you start so it's best to hear it now.

Struggling to find an identity
Jan 4, 2016 - Claims Manager in Tampa, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
When I began working here it was a company in flux trying to find an identity. There were good people in place and flexible. The culture here is really great. If you would have asked me 3 years ago I could never see leaving, however now.....That being said read below....
Cons
I have been here 6 years now and 4 in management. Sadly we are still struggling to find our identity. We outwardly portray ourselves as tech savvy when actually we are lagging behind almost every other company. I have been hearing for 3 years that compensation is being reviewed which appears to be lip service. We are losing top performers to other companies that pay well. Yes the culture is great however it has changed greatly. With the pay lagging behind the industry in my opinion and declining culture I see many more departures.

Changed considerably following Allstate
May 13, 2015 - Claims Department in Stockton, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-ICAR education paid for & required by company -High autonomy to make repair decisions -Company relatively small compared to competitors & is growing exponentially -Company is smaller & has less money than its brother Allstate.. However the pay rate is much higher than its brother Allstate. -Company veh & gas card provided (but for use during company hours ONLY)
Cons
-No training curriculum & all though ICAR education is paid for company at times places "freezes" on paying for the courses while still requiring that you meet the education requirement prior to mid-year & annual reviews -Company has hired a number of ex-Farmers Ins. employees in areas of mgmt and the company culture and the attitude's of mgmt towards its employees now mimics that of Farmers and Allstate. -Company claims to care very much how its employees feel and promises to sincerely listen to employee suggestions about improvements but it instead ignores suggestions, places incredible burdens and workloads on its employees and has threatened mandatory OT at times. -Micromanagement until you become a machine. -You can forget taking your 30-60 minute lunch break. Mgmt knows you can't possibly take one (let alone take your 2 lawful 10 min rest breaks) and it conveniently ignores this truth. -Ability to move up into other roles is limited and based largely upon favoritism. Those who have exceptional numbers have been passed up for those who have less stellar numbers but have an outside of work relationship with upper mgmt. -Company vehicle cannot be used for personal use. -You are held accountable for not meeting changes in the objectives that were never announced to staff. -Objectives are not released until just prior mid-year reviews however you are still held accountable.

Pros
I have been a full time employee for over 5 years and have never been so happy with where I work. The culture they have created here centers on open and honest communication. With a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion and acceptance makes this office a very loving place to be. I’ve had the unfortunate experience of going through two major health situations while employed here. Esurance and their commitment to work life balance exceeded all expectations. The HR department contacted my wife and took her through step by step on everything that needed to be done and filed out. My pay was never delayed and my family was taken care of. The ability to work from home when needed is a benefit that you can’t put a price on. No more PTO days for home repairs and that type of stuff. Any time off under 3 hours you don’t have to use PTO. You are allowed to make it up that week. Esurance also puts a lot of work into the staffing model. Standard day-to-day work load is very manageable and in no way overwhelming. Truly an outstanding place to work.
Cons
No cons that i can think of.
Thank you for sharing your experiences as an Esurance associate and we're so glad to hear that you and your family were well cared for during your health challenges. We hope you've mended well and are back here with your Esurance family, caring for our customers with your teammates.

IT Dept management is horrible
Aug 15, 2017 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
i got an opportunity to learn new technology
Cons
Their managers in IT are horrible to say the least. Nepotism and favoritism has led to many undeserving people promoted to upper management. As a result they don't understand how to manage people and expect people to be brown-nosers. Good developers leave as they don't want to work for a BOSS who does not understand tech nor take responsibility for their failures and point fingers at others. There is a lot of people from Indian (asian) descent and they think that just because their title is manager or director, they can do whatever they want typical INDIAN BABU culture. Worklife balance is not there for developers, you will be called anytime to fix issues. I got regular calls at 2 AM even later. They depend heavily on people waiting for their green cards and abuse these workers as they know that they can’t change jobs easily. Pay is on the lower side of market and bonuses and promotions are only handed over to manager’s pets. The atmosphere is vicious teams work in silos, i saw that a senior manager and her team did not cooperate with another manager in their the delivery of a major initiative, lots of blame game. The company lost huge amount of money and time because of petty politics. They interview you for a certain position and low ball you with a lower position, so never accept a lower position as getting a promotion is very difficult. There is very less room to fail, so people are always trying to blame others. They make everybody sign a dignity pledge but it's funny how managers don't follow the pledge. Threats blame game, and making someone scapegoat is real. Don’t join if you want to work in american culture….
