    Pros

I especially enjoy working at Oakhills Elementary in the Eureka Union School District as the entire staff, classified and certificated, truly loves the children and works together as a team. It is great to work where everyone supports each other to get thru the day and help the students be the best they can be.

    Cons

Due to budget cuts, it is difficult to land a full time position as for every job opening, the district needs to follow a priority list of people who had been laid off. They need to be offered first chance at each job as it comes available. i believe this is standard protocal at most districts in California.

    Advice to Management

It would be great if IEP's and homework clubs could be compleated and set up during mid-September so the kids do not get behind at the begining of their school year.

I worked at Eureka Union School District part-time

    Pros

pleasant employees, parents, and smart friendly students

    Cons

    Some principals are very unreasonable

    Advice to Management

Some principals smother their employees- they need to let the teachers do a great job on their own

  3. "Friendly, encouraging atomsphere"

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Eureka Union School District full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong leadership in the special Education dept. Good communication between resource office, teachers and aides. Teachers very helpful. No "teachers vs aides". Good benefits and hours. The job is very fulfilling and rewarding.

    Cons

Of course with the state and federal fundings being continually back, the pay is low. Full-time net approximatly $11,000. for special Education Aides.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for strong and fair decisions that back up the employee when warrented.
