I worked at Europ Assistance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-In Travel Assistance Department: wonderful colleagues, diverse community of people from around the world. General sense that we all work together and help each other out.
    -Great management and supervisors.
    -1 hour lunch period.

    Cons

    -Inflexible schedule.
    -Not the best pay.
-Generally a very stressful and high pressure job. There is a LOT of emphasis placed upon answering the phone fast enough, and even some pressure to return from a break to help answer the phones.
-Totally understaffed, so the phone lines were frequently ringing off the hook. This caused customers to become VERY upset if they were placed on hold for too long (which is completely understandable). It felt as though, since we were not well-staffed, we were not being respected. And this caused a sense of stress, unease, and lack of respect among the department staff.

    Advice to Management

Try to schedule enough people to work any given shift so that the people working are not completely overwhelmed and under so much pressure to answer calls one after another. It causes a deep sense of low morale, which is avoidable and unnecessary.

I have been working at Europ Assistance full-time

    Pros

It feels good to work hard knowing the work you do helps people every day. Interesting to be part of a global company.

    Cons

There seems to be less focus on the "caring" part of the business and more focus on the insurance side due to the increased integration and links with the parent company, Generali. Over the course of the past 2 years, there is more bureaucracy, less autonomy and room for the local entrepreneurial spirit that made the company great. There is overall a real lack of diversity despite it being an international company and surprisingly a very limited sense of being really global. It's still very European focused and no mindset or ability to work globally - e.g. if it were truly global, meetings would not revolve only around European (and truth be told the French) calendar and timezone. There is a lot of talk but less walk so it's starting to feel like a typical, large corporation where there is a lot of propaganda and nice pretty things but not much behind it.
