  1. "My observations on the UKIP delegation"

    StarStarStarStarStar
      Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at European Parliament full-time

      Pros

Note that these remarks are only about the UKIP delegation. The pros are offices, food, drinks, and the fact that the delegation is staffed mostly by stupid people, so intelligence stands out.

      Cons

Note that these remarks are only about the UKIP delegation. The cons are pettiness, a stuttering ruin of a UKIP MEP who flunked out of Oxford, a contract manager who is as incompetent as her secretary is, a lack of adequate funds, and corruption.

I worked at European Parliament full-time for less than a year

      Pros

It was an amazing experience which allowed me to learn a lot about the work of an MEP, the regulation process and the work of the parliament. The EP is a dynamic en young environment and very cosmopolite.

      Cons

I have no Cons regarding my internship experience at the European parliament

I have been working at European Parliament full-time for more than a year

      Pros

A good place to start your career in politics or similar. You will gain exposure to a wide range of policy areas and can access language courses and other types of training.

      Cons

The extent to which the job is enjoyable really depends on which MEP you work for. If you have a bad dynamic then it can be a really awful experience, there is no accountability for poor management or protections in place for Parliamentary Assistants. Progression can be difficult depending on your MEP, your role may be very rigid, many...

      Advice to Management

Communication is key, listen to your staff and lose the ego. Actively seek to provide opportunities for progression and try to cultivate a supportive atmosphere to avoid the bullying and backstabbing that often takes place in this highly competitive environment.

    • "Good experience overall"

Current Employee - Assistant in Brussels

I have been working at European Parliament full-time for more than a year

        Pros

Generally very interesting work (depends on the MEP though), good variety due to commitee meetings and Strasbourg sessions, and the EP's increasing clout makes it an exciting place.

        Cons

As with any large government organization, sometimes it's a bit of a maze getting forms filled in, etc.
