    Never leaving

    Pros

I love that I can work less than 30 hours a week and make as much money as I do. You can make great money but you have to put in enough time or at least out last the rest of the waxers there. Once you make a name for yourself you’re golden but trying to wait through a few years to get there is tough. It’s a fast paced environment which I love and the culture is pretty great and relaxed. I don’t think I’m ever leaving, they will have to forcibly remove me from the building to get me to stop working here.

    Cons

Very low base pay and commission so you rely heavily on tips. No clients = almost no money. So when you go through slow season it’s pretty tough. Also no benefits and almost no PTO and when you do get PTO it’s only off your low hourly. They have blackout periods where you can’t ask off and it almost adds up to half the year so taking off is pretty difficult. Having bad management can make this job awful so make sure you find a center with good management. Also moving up doesn’t make any sense with this company. You can work less and make more just being a wax specialist.

Cares more about money than humans.

    Pros

Pros: On occasion people tip you a couple bucks, and those tips help you pay bills more than your hourly pay ever will.

    Cons

If you need a day off for a funeral you’ll need to find coverage. If you don’t find coverage you must still go in, or you’ll lose your job. EWC doesn’t want you or your guest to be human. You must get undressed, waxed and redressed in less than 15 minutes to be to the EWC standard, which is just torture for most people but EWC would NEVER have that conversation because it’ll “lose them money” to not specialize in speed waxing… which is not true, the people who run the place are just purposefully dumb I guess. If you do one single Brazilian service it probably will cover your pay for the entire shift but you’ll still only be paid minimum. If you were to do 4 Brazilians in 1 hour you’ve almost brought in more than your pay for the week into the company within one hour, and you’ll get a measly $13 (in lucky states). You would probably make more money starting your own business even if you’re starting with $0 or in debt.

    Chill Job

    Pros

Fun, cool work environment and get discount on products and free waxes. Commission helps increase pay. Learned useful customer service/sales skills during the 6 months I worked here. I enjoyed working here and my coworkers were friendly.

    Cons

Doesn't pay well enough and good commission depends on peak times and location. The bonuses were just sad. Sometimes it was understaffed and I had to work long hours (9+) with no actual break :(
