I worked at Evangelical Community Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is comparable to similar jobs in the area. Small hospital means everyone knows most of the staff. The building are older but are kept clean.

    Cons

Benefits are costly for a hospital. Management is not responsive to the needs of the working staff. Human Resources allows too much to happen that doesn’t follow policy and which is just not good management.

    Advice to Management

Be aware of what is happening right under your nose. Put people in HR that have the ability to see through what management (particularly in the EMSO) are doing. Stop promoting people that aren’t capable but are merely friends of the president or the doctors on the board of directors.

I worked at Evangelical Community Hospital full-time

    Pros

Co-workers were my second family, happy, polite, courteous. Strong community involvement, President was Active and Communicative.

    Cons

Poor Management skills in Accounting Dept. Bullying and favoritism were overlooked.

    Advice to Management

Equality, saying "Thank you", encouragement, developmental goals, being involved, approachable, and appreciated goes along way and should be part of the management style.

I have been working at Evangelical Community Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of new learning experiences & opportunities for advancement. Co-workers are friendly and caring. Office environment is supportive.

    Cons

Pay rate is not enough for experienced, quality employees. Not able to cross-train with other departments. Hospital employees should not have to pay a deductible for services rendered through the Evan.

    Advice to Management

You need to compensate appropriately for quality, experienced employees who can build the brand to continue competing with the bigger hospitals.
