I worked at Evans Cycles full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Any career below management is easy day to day
Trade benefits are good if you cycle
Shop team are great if you work for a good store
Able to train on the mechanics of bikes and some sales

    Cons

    Little support at manager level
Nobody seems to know what they are doing above manager level
Allot of undermining from different departments
Area management seems like you are trying to be caught out constantly and little effort is put in to guide you instead of belittle you
Towards the end of my time at Evans Cycles it started to become far to corporate and cared less about its staff and custom.

    Advice to Management

Gain respect from colleges and not fear, I felt nobody wanted to do anything for someone who they don't trust or believe in. It was a shame to see a good business slowly ruined by its management.

I have been working at Evans Cycles full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No real pro's anymore to be genuinely honest

    Cons

Fat Salary HO staff that don't care about you and show it.
The company seems to think that the stores (that actually make all the money) exist only keep them in a job.

    Advice to Management

Pointless as they tell you "we listen" but as soon as you turn around they flip you the W'Ker sign behind your back.

The business went into administration because of how bad they are at they job and how over paid and elitist.

They have still not learnt anything.
Advice to Mike Ashley: "Do what you did to house of fraser and fire them all. seriously, you will have a much better company".

I have been working at Evans Cycles full-time

    Pros

Just that the hours are flexible - that’s literally the only positive.

    Cons

They don’t care about the staff, no loyalty to you whatsoever
Pay is much lower than average
    HR are nice but useless
Culture is absolutely terrible - I’ve never worked with such a bitter and spiteful group of people
The office is below average standards.
The location is in an industrial estate and is really hard to get to
The job role was completely different to what I was told in interview.
Moving to this company was probably the biggest career mistake I have ever made!

There’s a reason that the staff turnover is high, if I could give any advice to anyone considering working here it would be - don’t.

    Advice to Management

So many things that need improving, but the culture is the biggest issue. Take care of your people and the rest will take care of itself.

I have been working at Evans Cycles full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some great people, positive atmosphere, many enjoy the staff discount. Company rides and social events.

    Cons

Lack of management focus over past 2 years has led to a rough situation. Lack of quality control and staff in non-profit making departments stifles customer satisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Aim to be the best cycling retailer in the UK and get everything spot on before trying to sell internationally again.
