    Pros

Fun, friendly shop management & work crowd, who all have a genuine passion for bicycles & cycling. Good staff discounts on a bike, plus equipment & clothing.

    Cons

    - Too few staff (skilled or unskilled) available to efficiently run our shop, so there is often tension between us & customers. Negative Feedback often reflects this, yet a year on, the situation is still the same. - Poor minimum wage salaries for workshop and shop floor staff result in low morale & little incentive to 'Go that extra mile for the customers or Evans'. All staff have the responsibility & legal accountability for their actions, yet menial jobs are often more highly rewarded at other retail outlets. The staff purchase discount isn't much incentive with the low salaries, which don't even increase with annual inflation. An out of touch head office set unrealistic shop targets, so store staff & management would have to 'work themselves to the bone' to get even close to meeting their figures or customer satisfaction ratings. - There is little to no training, or route for progressing within Evans, hence short staff retention rates.

    Pros

Limited staff discount and health shield benefit.

    Cons

Outdated IT systems leaves customers upset which store staff take the brunt. Dial up speed internet means in-store training is almost impossible, huge amounts of time wasted waiting for IT systems to work. Awful company intranet! Inaccurate stock systems. Customers being double charged every day. Woeful communication from head office, mixed messages and confusion every week. High pressure, high staff turnover, poor pay especially for retail staff. Staff are required to accept homophobic, racist and sexist language which is likened to petty name calling by head office. Zero staff protection from head office, ALL retail staff are replaceable attitude, abuse of store staff is acceptable. No recognition for long service. Excessive waste (especially paper/card) via awful in-store campaigns which don't work. A new CEO every year! No overtime pay!

    Fantastic place to work

    Pros

Employees are all huge bike and cycling fans. Get to work with people from all walks of life across many disciplines. Staff discount scheme is huge (as good as a pay rise for any cyclist!). Great team atmosphere with a key focus on customer experience. Lots of focus on training and progressing employees through the ranks. Reasonable pay package for management.

    Cons

can be a little bureaucratic. Targets can be quite challenging and the amount of work for management can be tricky to complete inside a 40 hour week. Sales staff need more recognition for the level of skill and knowledge they bring to a min wage job.

    Pros

I've only been at Evans a few months, but everyone I have met so far has been really friendly and welcoming. The strength of this business really does lie with it's people, and they're a great bunch. The staff discount is a really good benefit if you are into cycling - there's not many retailers that are as generous as this.

    Cons

    Haven't discovered anything so far.
