Best Decision I could have made
May 15, 2023 - General Manager in Vero Beach, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Able to manage my business with little to no oversight. Acknowledged for my contributions. Supported by my senior leadership. Progressive company. Part of building the new Ever Story. This is truly a great company I can speak with all levels of senior management, including the CEO/President. My contributions matter. My leadership matters. I have my 1 year anniversary tomorrow and do not have any regrets in my decision to join this outstanding company.
Cons
I have experienced nothing negative.

Pros
Some of my coworkers were the best in town, families, and free coffee
Cons
Zero Training, no marketing in local markets, demands for sales when corporate isn't doing their part with marketing and providing leads from marketing. Horrible HR department, they know of the toxic screaming workers ( and turns a blind eye) don't go to them they will them be watching you. So now your location has to deal with the screaming coworker, thanks HR. Call nights, they expect you to stay at night to harass your grieving families because during the day you will be managing complaints by families who are upset at you at how bad the cemetery looks. Minimum wage when you don't sell and that happens a lot because no leads coming in. Your mental health will take a toll, don't work there.

One Year Review From My Perspective
May 16, 2023 - Funeral Director Intern in Greenwood, INRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I appreciate that Everstory partners has an HR department and requires company members to review the HR rules on an annual basis. I like that the company encourages employees to stick as close to the 40 hour work week as possible. Im not constantly being forced to take on extra hours. I only take on extra hours when I personally schedule them myself. I appreciate my co-workers. I feel like forest lawn has done an amazing job of maintaining a friendly atmosphere which helps with the group moral. We always celebrate each others birthdays and we cheer on each other for both personal and professional achievements. We also make an effort to keep from throwing each other under the bus, We try to support eachother.
Cons
I feel like the corporate office has made a habit of making promises that changes are coming and then there is very little follow through. At least on my level, I feel like over the course of my first year here at Forest Lawn, we have had very few changes. While I appreciate we have an HR department, they are quite difficult to get a hold of. Last time I needed to contact HR with a question, it took 4 weeks before I received a response, The refund process and the payment process where corporate has to approve refunds/ payments is very slow and it never looks good to families/ professional acquaintances. I don't know what can be done exactly to improve this process but if there is anyway to make it a bit faster, that would be perfect.

NEW EMPLOYEE REVIEW
Apr 19, 2023 - Family Services Specialist in Allentown, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great training program however it is very fluid and often times doesnt necessarily follow the set training path. I eventually get to the meat of the training but my trainer gets pulled away quite often. I'm sure its just a necessary part of the job. I like the company and its products very much and I am excited to really delve into the learning aspect. I want to be ready to sell when my training period is over.
Cons
The amount of information is overwhelming at times. I leave work with information swimming in my head everyday.

Revamped feel from both inside and out
May 10, 2023 - Senior Business Analyst in Bensalem, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Being a new hire, I was welcomed with warm greetings and bright personalities. There was clear transparency between the hiring manager and the VP of IT as to the direction of the new CEO and what she hopes to inspire for Everstory. I am very excited to be a part or the digital transformation and how we can help alleviate the painful process of grieving a lost one.
Cons
None at the moment, still a new hire

Poor Management and Business Sense
May 30, 2023 - Funeral Director in Bensalem, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Love my co workers. Flexible schedule.
Cons
Management are unqualified for their positions to the point that it hinders every day work environment. I've seen General Managers and Area Vice Presidents and above berate employees and start arguments with things they don't have an understanding about

The Best of Everything!
Mar 6, 2023 - Funeral Director/Embalmer in Wichita, KSRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This is a company who cares about it's employees. Any chemicals or tools I have needed to complete my work have been promptly supplied to me. I never have to worry about not having what I need. The company culture is friendly and teamwork is practiced. If I've needed help with anything, I receive it. Communication is high, which is helpful in getting tasks accomplished. In addition, compensation is beyond competitive. My starting pay was about $10 more per hour than I was offered at comparable funeral homes in my area. I see myself with this company for as many years as they'll have me!
Cons
There is more paperwork involved in comparison to family owned funeral homes. It takes a period of learning but overall is nothing to complain about.

Change Is Good
May 3, 2023 - Family Sales and Service Counselor in Oakbrook Terrace, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Well I have only been here for a little over a month. I think the company motto is good and the new CEO is working diligently to implement powerful change to many areas of the company. They value feed back now which is good. They also have been putting things in place to make the company better. The employees are great and really help out a lot. The managers are easy to talk to and answer questions quickly. I think it's amazing considering the work load they have. I also like the small perks of being able to eventually work with the community and share the value of a service that is important. I honestly like the company's ability to work fast to service people and the customer service. I haven't seen not one worker nasty or mean to a customer and that is great. I am really big on customer service and it has been nice to see customers happy and thanking us.
Cons
The company is showing the effort to change quickly but it's going to need a lot. I realize the service we provide to family's is actually more important than the money but we still want to make it. I believe it's too many activities that interrupt the sales process and the ability for sales counselors to maximize revenue. The biggest issue is the technology the company is using. They are missing out on tons of revenue for their employees due to lack of sales driven systems that can eliminate redundancy and time consuming projects that don't equal sales. Most things just provides a service we can't commission for or benefit from. Leads should be generated using more tech like individual location drop websites that capture client information. Being in sales over 20 years and making the switch back to mail orders and old school tracks has been very difficult. Also many of the file logs are legacy and not digital. The time it takes to find available spaces for customers and clients is time consuming and takes away from the customer interaction and sales process. The managers are good but handle lots of different facilities. It needs to be one at every facility and a customer service department that can handle customer issues like refunds, problems with the parks and other small things. The families are handed to different counselors in the sales process and it's not a good system in place to prevent selling for free sometimes. This also fractures the customer relationship and causes lots of miscommunication.
