I have been working at Evonik full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Talented global colleagues and competitive pay and benefits.

    Cons

Multi-layered decision making and silo-ed thinking. Failure to automate processes prevents workers from being nimble and efficient.

    Advice to Management

When you want to know how things are going talk to the men and women “in the trenches”. Do not rely on a middle layer “filter” of people who may be telling you only what they think you want to hear. Also, simplify processes for approvals and within systems. Decision making is multi-layered and many processes are over-complicated and/or manual and make for sluggish response time and make Evonik less efficient.

    Pros

    Competitive pay and benefits.

    Cons

Hard to balance work and home life. Very political environment in middle management. Working environment is dependent on your boss, who can make it an enjoyable place to work at or one in which you dread going in each day.

I worked at Evonik full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay, great benefits, great bonus and pay raise.

    Cons

Poor work/life balance, Management has came in and cleaned house for the better, but since pay is good and hard to come by in another work place, Management bullies there way around, lacks respect, weekly threats are made to basically get fired, and your decision or input does not matter. Plant management even allowed my old supervisor bring his pet dog in his office during work hours. HR isn't on site, so a lot of stuff goes on behind the scenes. Cameras also placed throughout the plant but has been quite of a "overkill", if nobody is trusted why keep the staff?

    Advice to Management

Motivate your staff to succeed and stop the bullying. Mistakes are bound to happen but by threats to "terminate" fellow peers does make the current employee feel good about themselves and coming into work "clear-minded".
