    I worked at Ewing full-time

    Pros

Ewing is family owned and management largely treat their long-term employees as members of the family. Many employees have been with the firm for decades. Before I left, they instituted a program designed to improve the quality of staff. Certain milestone of this program were associated directly with pay increases. They have a policy for reimbursing college tuition (see cons for counterpoint).

    Cons

Along with the "family company" culture, comes the hazard that management and leadership is very cliquey. There are those people who are on the "inner circle" and those who are not. This had more to do with personality than ability. Compensation is low across-the-board. Yes, there are increases built in to the SP program (employee development), but when the base is low and with our standardization across level and/or...

    Advice to Management

Start taking care of all of your employees - not just those who are your friends. Pay people a fair wage. Look for people who challenge you, not just back your decisions. Encourage people to better themselves.

I have been working at Ewing full-time

    Pros

Really valuable training. With the attitude of knowing that if you need help with anything you could literally call anyone and they are more then happy to help. Advancement is there if you want it. With the right team everyday can seem to go by with ease and lack of stress and with fun.

    Cons

Low monetary compensation for what is expected but all the benefits help make up for it.

I have been working at Ewing full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Ewing has been so encouraging and supportive with training. When I first started, I didn't know how a valve worked or what the parts were even called. Now, I know how to trouble shoot a system, I know all of the technical terms, and I have even taught a few classes on the subject. If you show excitement and motivation in your work, Ewing will give it right back and help you on your career path. The health insurance...

    Cons

Starting off, compensation is low, however there are a lot of spiffs and opportunities to earn bonuses, gift cards and earn rewards through vendors and the company. Another con is that you are dealing with the public in a customer service position, and sometimes the public can be difficult to deal with. Multi-tasking is a must have skill, if you don't already have it, you will have to develop it to work at Ewing, you...

    Advice to Management

I would ask management to consider starting salaries and raises to reflect the cost of living index. As the cost of living has increased during the time I have been employed at Ewing, my wage has never been adjusted to reflect it. Ewing is a fun place to work, but fun does not pay the bills.

"A good company with great people to work with, not a perfect job though."

    I worked at Ewing

    Pros

A good opportunity to work in a friendly environment, learn about the industries of irrigation, lighting, and other related fields. Not the best pay for the labor, but not usually a very stressful job, either. Can be a fun environment at times(not too fun though!)

    Cons

Low monetary compensation, Can be hard to take time off. Multitasking is essential for this job. Hard work doesn't nessesarily always pay off, or even ensure secure employment.

    Advice to Management

Management appears to have a good business model, but shouldn't forget the individuals who work hard to make it happen.
