I have been working at Ewing full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I’ve been here now for almost 7 years. Been a warehouse driver, counter guy and now branch manager. I’ve read some reviews that are soooo negative, but are really based on that one persons experience. I’m the complete opposite. If you’re willing to work, there are lots of opportunities to grow within Ewing. Especially now that they are expanding. I can name 50 people that feel the same as me. The benefit package is great....

    Cons

It takes time to adjust to the changes they make. And it happens a lot because the company is always moving forward in the right direction. So, even though it’s tough sometimes, I get it.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with us in advance of changes being made so we don’t have to react so quickly sometimes.

I have been working at Ewing full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

It is nice to work at a place that, even though it has experienced huge growth, still feels like a family business. You can still pick up the phone and call the owner directly. They still treat their employees with respect. Ewing also has a great benefits package. Health insurance almost totally covered for the individual employee, profit sharing, 401K, 3 weeks vacation for long term employees, sick time, scholarship...

    Cons

Lots of change from growth, create uncertainty and doubt.

    Advice to Management

Keep growing, but never forget the family culture that has made this company great.

I have been working at Ewing full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's a fantastic company to work for ! ! ! I started as a driver/counter sales person and became a branch manager within 2 years. Plenty of opportunity to advance if you're willing to learn and work hard. Family owned, great visionaries with employee wellness as one of their top priorities. Company vehicle and profit sharing/ 401K a plus.

    Cons

Work can be stressful at times but that's to be expected. Travel increases when you're moving up the ladder. ( which is a plus if you want that) Salary is 10% below national average.

    Advice to Management

Raise salary to national average or find a way to pay for performance.

I have been working at Ewing full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

What I've personally enjoyed as a benefit working for Ewing Irrigation Products Inc. has been the opportunities afforded to me as I've grown in skill set. I was originally hired as a driver at one of the Northern California branches. Ewing offered many opportunities for me to advance my career as I moved to Assistant Manager of that location and not much longer after a Manager of a different California location. When...

    Cons

As the company grows there have been an expanding area of opportunities. But, in some aspects of the company some departments have a shallow organization structure which leads to fewer opportunities for growth. This is in very, very few departments.

    Advice to Management

Amenities for Home Office staff probably needs to be reviewed to reflect current office standards. Although not required, additional areas for quiet working and focus are needed.

    Pros

You lean the product fast. They back you up with training from vendors. The benefits are great and you get to meet really great people.

    Cons

If you are not part of the click you will not go anywhere. Work a lot for very little pay. They say but you have profit sharing. Don't live in reality that you have to live now.

    Advice to Management

get in touch with your counter guys and.

I have been working at Ewing full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Ewing has been so encouraging and supportive with training. When I first started, I didn't know how a valve worked or what the parts were even called. Now, I know how to trouble shoot a system, I know all of the technical terms, and I have even taught a few classes on the subject. If you show excitement and motivation in your work, Ewing will give it right back and help you on your career path. The health insurance...

    Cons

Starting off, compensation is low, however there are a lot of spiffs and opportunities to earn bonuses, gift cards and earn rewards through vendors and the company. Another con is that you are dealing with the public in a customer service position, and sometimes the public can be difficult to deal with. Multi-tasking is a must have skill, if you don't already have it, you will have to develop it to work at Ewing, you...

    Advice to Management

I would ask management to consider starting salaries and raises to reflect the cost of living index. As the cost of living has increased during the time I have been employed at Ewing, my wage has never been adjusted to reflect it. Ewing is a fun place to work, but fun does not pay the bills.

I have been working at Ewing

    Pros

Senior Ewing management appears to work hard at developing longtime relationships with their employees and customers. Ewing wants to create a positive experience for both very importand pieces of their business. Constantly intersted in employee development to provide best frontline experience to the customer.

    Cons

Remote locations spread over 22 states, makes it hard for the real upper management mesage to filter down to all branch employees. Although up front pay maybe considered in the industry's "competitive" wage scale, there are many other benefits, including provided vehicles for branch managers, and a employer funded profit sharing plan.

    Advice to Management

Continue looking for the best employees, and keep the course on evaluation, and "scorecards" to best identify and reward the best overall performers.
