I worked at Exactech full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    1. Great company. Innovative, rapidly growing, and dedicated to meaningful, life-changing work.
    2. Management. I worked under the most intelligent and creative managers I've ever met who were always willing to guide me, yet still allowed me to do my own work.
    3. The work is intense and challenging, but incredibly rewarding at the same time.

    Cons

    1. Like many rapidly expanding companies they have experienced some growing pains. Employees are often required to wear many different hats and complete a variety of work that sometimes is outside of their speciality (i.e. engineers often have responsibilities pertaining to sales, marketing, planning, etc.)
    2. Headquarters and all main facilities are located in the small town of Gainesville, FL, which can leave a lot to be desired both professionally and socially.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people to keep up with demand and delegate work in a more strategic manner so employees can focus on just their own jobs.

    I worked at Exactech full-time

    Pros

Most of the people are friendly.

    Cons

Advancement within the company is very political. Little or no promotion in some departments or teams, while other departments are constantly promoting within. It's all about who you work for. If you report directly to and impress an executive member of the good old boy management then you just jumped on the fast track to success. Otherwise, be satisfied where you are and don't rock the boat.

    I worked at Exactech full-time

    Pros

Hours are very reasonable. Folks are generally not there until 8 and no one can be found after 5. Profit sharing is good.

    Cons

Exactech is stuck in the past and their approach to supply chain, marketing and sales force effectiveness is holding them back. In addition, unless you work on the should business, the leadership is poor. While they preach the culture, they don't hold leaders to the same standard. I would only want to work on the Shoulder BU as they have a great leaders driving that business.

I have been working at Exactech full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family company, they tend to avoid laying people off at all cost. There is access to higher ups which can provide visibility career progression

    Cons

    Does not have a clear career path. Is not a great company for development unless the person knows where they want to be and engages higher ups to reach goals;

I have been working at Exactech full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Great atmosphere. Everyone is very easy to work with.
-Management is very understanding about personal conflicts.
-As a smaller company, your are exposed to broader projects and responsibilities.

    Cons

-Inexperienced professionals and management. As a new graduate, there is little direction for professional growth. There are a select few engineers where that understand engineering concepts.
-Very limited funding for innovation. Unless the technology has been used for a decade with proven clinical success by other orthopedic companies, Exactech will not invest resources in it.

    Advice to Management

-Invest in professional growth and training of subordinates.
-Consider letting go out-of-date management, managers that do not use fundamental engineering concepts or lean engineering methods that Exactech has been pressing, costing the company time and money.

    Cons

Management talks a good talk but does not apply it starting at the top. Favorites abound and top wants yes people.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk. Don't use it when it's convenient. REALLY apply the Oz principles and 7 habits like they should be.

    I worked at Exactech full-time

    Pros

Not many. There are a few good employees, but not a plethora of them.

    Cons

    Too many to name.
    Politics are extreme.
Managers are bad fits for their roles.
Company is being ran into the ground.
Other than extremities, nor much success.
Marketing department is a nightmare to be in.

    Advice to Management

Get new management.that would be the advice. Clowns are running this company.

    I worked at Exactech full-time

    Pros

People, salary and benefits make this a good company to work for. The facility is kept very clean and they are very much involved in the community

    Cons

Isolation is a problem. So many different buildings and to much walking back and forth. I would consider Lean manufacturing to eliminate waste

    Advice to Management

Please listen to your staff. Some of them have great ideas that can really improve are day to day tasks. Some Mgrs have favorites and it does not go unnoticed

    Pros

Great product managers and teams to help the sales force. They seem to really care!

    Cons

Good but not great training for reps and agents. Expect more from this company.

    Advice to Management

Stay ahead in training, lacking in that area. Harder for agents that have new sales reps.

    Pros

Great company to work for. Focused on making sure the interns and employees are happy and are getting what they want out of their job.

    Cons

In between a small and a large company so if you are looking for the small company feel, there can be some hoops to jump through to get things done.
