I worked at Exadel full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked at Exadel as Software Engineer for 17 years. Participated in the entire chain of products from ECom through Exadel Studio Pro to JBoss Developer Studio. Had a lot of freedom to try my own ideas for the better design and implementation, got much responsibility for many large features, which let me proudly feel myself the author (of course that could not be without the team).

    Cons

For me, this great project became a catch, strategically it was a mistake to stay with the same project for many years. As a result, when JBDS was put from active development to maintenance I had to go together with it, not being a match at the time to requirements of other projects at Exadel.

    Advice to Management

I wish they might try giving me a chance to grow into another active project, though I understand that business is above.

I have been working at Exadel full-time

    Pros

Exadel is good and stable company to work for. It has very good benefits and allows flexible schedule. Great 401K plan.

    Cons

More of an enterprise feel than a startup. You won't get company sponsored field strips or fully stacked kitchen.

I worked at Exadel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you work at one of the Exadel's Eastern European offices, you are likely getting a pretty sweet deal. Competitive salary, a good pool of projects to choose from including major Wall St firms, plenty of international travel opportunities with perks like generous per diem, rental cars and excellent hotels. If you wish and prove yourself useful, you can get transferred to the U.S. office, the company will arrange a work visa or sponsor a Green Card for you.

    Cons

Contrary to its offshore locations, working at Exadel's HQ in the U.S. is not much fun at all. Exadel is a consulting firm.
They have very few projects that need U.S. based engineers, therefore you face a very modest, hardly competitive compensation package with no career growth opportunities of any sort. If you are very lucky, you can secure a project that uses modern software development practices, but more likely than not you will get stuck with 10 year old technologies, your resume will smell like a dead cat and your software engineering career will be over. Good luck finding a job after a few years with the company. Look out, don’t let this happen to you.

    Advice to Management

U.S. based employees are not part of the company's business model, so this is expected for them to feel miserable and neglected. Fair and square, that's all I can say.

    I worked at Exadel full-time

    Pros

Very good health insurance. Great location (Walnut Creek, CA).

    Cons

There is no such thing as a career growth inside the company. Maybe in offshore offices but not in the US.
