I have been working at Excell (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid recruiting and sales team. Work-life balance, Day 1 benefits for all employees including contractors. No micro managing, as you are treated as a partner and not just a number. What is more important to you the total package which includes a fair comp, above market benefits which includes costs that do not break your wallet and a place where it is not just a "JOB". That is what I hear everyone wants, is a place to hang their hat and enjoy their job, plus be able to make a great living. You cannot make everyone happy, but comes pretty close here at eXcell!

    Cons

We can always ask for lower health costs, but their are rising in every company.

I have been working at Excell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

eXcell has a management team that has a deep understanding of business need and employee retention and satisfaction. This is a delicate balance when you are working in a people to people business. Not everyone is going to be satisfied but they are fair and diligent. The work life balance is exceptional but only as long as they know the business is taken care of. Which really makes me want to work harder to succeed for them. It is nice to want to make your management team happy because they reciprocate the gesture.

    Cons

Because we are a large company with lots of over head, the rates could be better but because benefits are offered to all full time employees and contractors it does balance out. There aren't alot of contracting firms that offer benefits for all roles and are competitive with them.

    Advice to Management

I aspire to move up and hope the mentality stays the same when I grow within the company.

    I worked at Excell full-time

    Pros

This one of a few contractors that still offer benefits, like healthcare and vacation time and paid holidays.

    Cons

Overall, as with any contractor, there is some pressure to conform with client requirements. There is also limited potential for pay raises.

I worked at Excell as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture is low-key and professional. They were able to provide me with a second opportunity after my first interview didn't result in a hire.

    Cons

Like a lot of recruiters for Microsoft, most of the positions they have are Microsoft jobs. This means they probably won't be able to find a position for you during the mandated 3-month break between a- contracts.

    Pros

I felt like a valued asset while I was employed there, and the benefits were fantastic. Many agencies offer skimpy or no benefits.

    Cons

Once your contract is complete, you have no assurance of receiving further work, and thus no means of getting promoted. Feedback on your job performance flows to you from the client via your resource manager. If the client does not provide feedback as requested by the resource manager, you have no recourse. This is the only job I have ever had that did not provide me with a performance review. I find that frustrating, because I want to improve but nobody is giving me a clue about where to start.

    Advice to Management

This question does not really apply to me--As a contractor, I was not exposed to managers other than my own resource manager. I do not know who the leading players are or what the company's plans or strategies were.
