Pros
you get a pay check
Cons
You will be under paid, under appreciated, and you will over pay for benefits. A point of reference, the 2022 benefits package paperwork was sent out recently and many of us received the paperwork of what a CompuCom direct hire would be paying as well as what we as Excell employees are paying. Every single health option we had (we had two fewer options than CompuCom) has us paying at least double for the exact same health coverage. At best you get lip service from management but nothing ever changes for the better, but we have seen things get worse

Either Incompetent or Dishonest
May 14, 2010 - Software Design Engineer in Redmond, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Probably the most comprehensive source of MS contract positions. Presumably competitive salary and benefits, although I wasn't employed long enough to take advantage of the latter.
Cons
Atrocious manager feedback, containing absolutely no actionable information. My Excell manager would simply regurgitate things she had been told by my lead, but with no understanding of the original context (or of what her notes even meant), she was completely at a loss to tell me how I could improve things. As a result, our monthly 'check-ins' were a waste of time for both of us. By far the worst aspect of my time with Excell, though, was the fact that they ended my contract per the original schedule AFTER promising me (in emails which I still possess) that it would be extended a month from the original ending date. I came in on Monday to discover that my cardkey no longer worked, my email address no longer existed, and, indeed, I had been completely purged from Active Directory and all other internal Microsoft systems. I called my Excell manager, who professed surprise, said she would look into it, and finally called back at the end of the day to inform me that 'there had been a mistakelly called back at the end of the day to inform me that 'there had been a mistakelly called back at the end of the day to inform me that 'there had been a mistake' and my contract had expired per the original schedule. There was absolutely no attempt at any apology or explanation, or indeed any acknowledgment of responsibility whatsoever. I am furious about that, but it is still a relatively minor inconvenience for me - a few weeks of job hunting with no salary in the meantime. For my Indian officemate (who received the same false promise of a month's extension), it is much more serious - unless he finds a job immediately, his legal resident status is in jeopardy. Excell deserves to be sued for this level of malfeasance. I would urge anyone to avoid Excell as long as this kind of incompetent (or dishonest - I'm still not sure which) behavior continues.

Excell is a great company and very responsive
Aug 25, 2020 - Misc in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I liked Excell and the people were great. They were always able to help with questions.
Cons
Low pay. Probably not excell’s fault but client site required so much last minute overtime at off peak hours. Waking up at 3am for a Sunday project and then sit on a Spanish call. Hardly make money on the ‘overtime’ projects and then you have spent your entire weekend getting ready for the project and recovering from unhealthy on call work. Everything was outsourced to Mexico and poor unethical managers at client site. Client employees were great but managers do not like hard working honest people. Beware

Pros
Solid recruiting and sales team. Work-life balance, Day 1 benefits for all employees including contractors. No micro managing, as you are treated as a partner and not just a number. What is more important to you the total package which includes a fair comp, above market benefits which includes costs that do not break your wallet and a place where it is not just a 'JOB'. That is what I hear everyone wants, is a place to hang their hat and enjoy their job, plus be able to make a great living. You cannot make everyone happy, but comes pretty close here at eXcell!
Cons
We can always ask for lower health costs, but their are rising in every company.

Recruiters work quickly to get you on assignment with reputable companies. My last couple of assignments were remote.
Cons
Salary is stagnant, Excell project managers sometimes hard to reach. No opportunities to get on full time with the client.

Extraordinary Work Life Balance
Sep 14, 2016 - Technical Recruiter in Bellevue, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
eXcell has a management team that has a deep understanding of business need and employee retention and satisfaction. This is a delicate balance when you are working in a people to people business. Not everyone is going to be satisfied but they are fair and diligent. The work life balance is exceptional but only as long as they know the business is taken care of. Which really makes me want to work harder to succeed for them. It is nice to want to make your management team happy because they reciprocate the gesture.
Cons
Because we are a large company with lots of over head, the rates could be better but because benefits are offered to all full time employees and contractors it does balance out. There aren't alot of contracting firms that offer benefits for all roles and are competitive with them.

Excell cares about their employees
Sep 12, 2016 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Excell management truly cares about the employees and doing the right thing. I've witnessed this time and again, and am proud to be an employee.
Cons
Being part of a larger company (Excell is a division of CompuCom) can have its challenges as well as benefits. Sometimes policies and processes are not as flexible as they should be.
