I worked at Exegy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay. Decent benefits. Flexible scheduling. Presidents Day and Good Friday off. Selective hiring leads to skilled and friendly staff, most employees are good people including low-level managers and middle managers. Interesting field and technology.

    Cons

No 401(k) match or stock options. Health plan is good but not great, only two options available. Overtime frequently put in. Upper management is unpopular internally.

    Advice to Management

More realistic expectations and a longer attention span would go a long way.

I have been working at Exegy (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are opportunities here.. If anything, a chance to help expand the technology here even further if you are good at thinking outside the "Box".

    Cons

Be good at UNIX/Linux, or be patient enough to learn it on the job..

I have been working at Exegy full-time

    Pros

    Some great people work here.
    Great place to learn.
This is a GREAT place to start if you want to move to Chicago or New York and work in the high-frequency trading industry. If that's your goal, this may be the best place around.

    Cons

All the stress of a start-up with none of the benefits
There is always some completely avoidable all-hands emergency created by managements inability to understand simple planning
    No Stock options
    No matching 401k
    No Bonus
    Sub-par insurance
    Raises are Very rare
    Authoritarian micro-managing upper-management
Little to no freedom to control your own work
    Loudest and dirtiest work environment
Management is all Strategy with terrible execution
Very poor code-base, and people actively stop you from improving it (mainly this is due to very poor testing abilities)
HUGE amount of resources put behind questionable, and technologically flawed products that never meet basic functional requirements

Really, everyone has a negative attitude about the place. That's the biggest thing, everyone is so beaten down by negligent and absent upper management . Small easy-to-fix problems fester.

    Advice to Management

Planning could all-but eliminate the constant emergencies and move the company forward.

    Pros

Exposure to cutting edge software, hardware, and market data! Amazing tech environment right in the heart of St Louis. If you're interested in the financial markets and the tech industry there is no better place to be. Small company environment and innovative products with amazing potential make this company a an awesome opportunity.

    Cons

    401k Matching is below average

    Advice to Management

Keep pressing for continuous improvement and watch the rewards roll in...

I worked at Exegy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exegy provides the opportunity to work with Interesting technology. Since it's still relatively small, there are good opportunities to work on challenging problems.

    Cons

There is a culture of rapidly and constantly shifting goals. Also the company still has not determined what problem it is really trying to solve with its products.

I worked at Exegy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very close collaboration with Washinton Univ., St. Louis, EE and CS research labs...started by 4 EECS professors. Cutting (bleeding?) edge research is converted to leading products.

    Cons

More of an academic research environment...and mentality. Not so much a professionally run engineering team.
