    Pros

Excellent company to hire on with. Benefits package is excellent.

    Cons

Turnover is fairly high but that is part of the intelligence community as a contractor.

    Pros

Competitive salary, good benefits, good work/life balance, un-stressful work environment, exciting products, interesting processes

    Cons

Lack of stability due to uncertain government business and questionable leadership decisions, union workforce, elimination of retirement plan, bloated org chart

    Advice to Management

Reduce risk in business decisions, thin out management and eliminate redundant levels, eliminate union workforce, encourage improved cohesion between departments

I worked at Exelis full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I had excellent opportunities to learn new skills and challenge myself. Worked with a great team of knowledgeable engineers. Best work experience of my life.

    Cons

The night vision business went bad and they ran low on funding for my department. This lead to staffing cuts and ultimately my departure.

    Advice to Management

I have no insight on whether the night vision business is a good investment anymore. They did well to pursue making the product cheaper and available to non-military customers and increasing the flexibility of how you could use NV products.

I worked at Exelis (Less than a year)

    Pros

I got most of the pay I was entitled...

    Cons

Horrible Management, Would hire new employees even if they didn't meet minimum experience and expect you to pick up the slack. If you weren't in the Cool Guy Club you got nothing but disrespect and zero chance of promotion.

    Advice to Management

Hire decent Supervisors and Managers. Stop lowering minimum requirements to fill slots with new employees. Pay the employees with the experience and your turnover rate wouldn't be compared to a revolving door.

    Cons

-Some of the tasks were boring...but hey, you're an intern!
-Was assigned an upper level engineer to work under/be mentored by; I wish that we had a lot more interactions.

    Pros

managers don't usually breathe down your neck.

    Cons

Top heavy management can't compete in an LPTA environment. The only thing that's changed now that they're Harris is the name and even MORE layers of management. Pay is below industry average.

    Advice to Management

Cut your bonus and pay the people who actually DO the work.

I worked at Exelis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My Management leads were beyond amazing and even all the way up to the Director level. I was always rewarded for a job well done. I was able to cross train and transfer departments, leading to knowledge growth. Group events were fun and morale boosting. Participated in community service.

    Cons

That our main contract came to an end, it was truly difficult to part from such a great company. And, there are always interpersonal relationships that will be trying but, i can say that management really stepped in and re-mediated any issues.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the GREAT work!
