I have been working at Exelixis full-time

    Pros

Nice people for the most part Good location Opportunity to grow Good compensation/benefits

    Cons

Upper/Mid-level management does not trust anyone and you will be micromanaged all day, every day. They say they want employees to be happy and do some things that are actually very nice, but then turn around and act like they do not trust you to do your job...yet they hired you because you have experience. A ton of stale leadership practices. Some people have been there too long and it shows.

I have been working at Exelixis full-time

    Pros

free lunches, work flexibility, friday treats, on-site gym

    Cons

While the company is growing, they are not letting those who have seniority an opportunity to grow and level up in their careers. Instead, executive directors will hire directors or associate directors, some of whom are extremely inexperienced and/or treat their subordinates poorly. Lots of delegation of workload (even administrative) tasks to subordinates and unrealistic expectations.

I worked at Exelixis full-time for less than a year

    Pros

New buildings, free snacks, along the bay, private ferry. The company is growing and trying hard to attract and keep their employees with random incentives.

    Cons

Extremely unprofessional and inexperienced middle management. Meetings can turn into uncomfortable shouting matches due to poor attitude of certain individuals. Managers don’t know how to be managers and take suggestions and questions as threats. No trust from managers in employees. Company is full of people that make issues bigger than they really are. Teamwork does not exist here and everyone is on their own. People will gladly throw you under the bus anytime for their own well-being. Lots of brown-nosers. Favoritism.

I have been working at Exelixis full-time for less than a year

    Pros

New facilities close to a walking path by the water front, eat club. Company has a good balance sheet.

    Cons

This is a toxic environment. Management at the senior level are micro managers. This applies across the entire organization. People have no idea about team work either. Instead, everyone is for themselves and are ready to back stab people around them any chance they get. Culture is one of arrogance.

I have been working at Exelixis full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great location, benefits, and low-stress. You aren't juggling multiple projects at once (unless you are a director) and there's opportunities to learn. Management really cares about their employees that they invested an Exelixis ferry from South SF to Alameda.

    Cons

Everyone is new and so there's a huge learning curve. We are in it together

I worked at Exelixis full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company makes a huge effort to keep employees happy EAT Club meals provided, brand new offices, exercise equipment, transportation options Great team environment - they really try to get everyone together as a whole group by putting on holiday events, happy hours, and lunch gatherings

    Cons

Growing pains - this exists whenever a company is growing rapidly; people working long hours; easy for morale to be down Processes need to be streamlined More support for management (trainings, etc)

I have been working at Exelixis full-time

    Pros

Nice office space in new (or newly renovated) building People are very kind Great transportation options for people to get to work Very organized

    Cons

A little politicking- but nothing out of the ordinary in my experience. They could definitely streamline some processes. But at least they have some. Better options for food would be nice. Not much nearby and the EatClub credits they give you are great but it would be nice to have outside options.
