I have been working at Exelon Generation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company has a younger workforce than I've experienced with competitors leading to a much less stodgy atmosphere. In most departments, the team is focused on working together towards an end goal and supporting each other along the way.

    Cons

Exelon is known for its management model which is great, but it drives a very process and procedure atmosphere/culture. Before you know it, you'll be talking in GOSP. It may not be the right fit for everyone.

    Pros

Pay, Benefits, Opportunity for Promotion, Challenging, Working on Something Different Every Day, Generally working with great people. Mostly good experiences.

    Cons

Work-Life Balance, Lot of Extra Admin, Office Politics, Rotating Shift Work with a hybrid 8/12 hr schedule, Some workers not held accountable.

    Advice to Management

More Personnel Rotation, Fully Staff Shift to minimize forced OT.

I worked at Exelon Generation (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Intern program with good structure.
    Competitive Pay.
    Helpful engineers.
Good exposure of what it is like to work in the Nuclear Industry.

    Cons

Sometimes left with little to no work.
Lots of employees have a negative outlook towards jobs.
Projects are not as intellectually stimulating as described.

    Advice to Management

Please provide interns with set performance goals and a plan for how they can achieve that. Provide more lunch and learns. More exposure to the company

    Pros

worked at lasalle station for a year and half, work environment is very poor and stressful therefore no pros at all

    Cons

High turn over in mangment a lot of new hire with no background in anything also bad mangment with few knowledgeable personnel. The station is very week when it comes to higher standards a lot of turn over at manager level with young personnel who barely know anything about the station and how to deal with employees. Also high stress level due to lack of knowledge at the employee level with uneducated old school personnel who get overwhelmed for any reason.

    Advice to Management

Over haul and bring knowledge to the departments,
Not who knows how to talk

I worked at Exelon Generation as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The one thing that I enjoy about Exelon Generation is the ability to advance your career throughout the ranks. The employers work with you to help you find your fit within the company whether it be working in IT or managing radiation waste

    Cons

One downside with working with Exelon Generation, at least from my internship experience, was that I was stuck in a cubicle basically all day.

    Advice to Management

My best advice to management is to find some way to liven up the office so the employees aren't stuck doing the same routine for 8 hours a day.

I have been working at Exelon Generation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

pay, decent amount of knowledgeable old timers, extreme job security, union job is crazy good pay and very laid back,

    Cons

opportunities to move exist but typically one is restricted for a year or more, engineering is viewed as a free and infinite resource, non-union job is not laid back

    Advice to Management

management should have done the job they are going to manage. Taking someone from one department and having them head another department they know nothing about is not always a good idea.

    Pros

Working with a wide variety of people that bring different points of view. Differing technical challenges from older and newer technology. An environment where you can continue to learn new things.

    Cons

    It's a demanding 24/7/365 business.

    Advice to Management

Customize training to the individual level instead of one size fits all.
