I have been working at Exelon Power Team full-time

    Pros

Nice building. Coffee is only $1 per cup 401 k option isn't bad. Fortune 500 company

    Cons

Where to start? Backstabbing culture, office is 50 min dri3 from downtown, which not much in the area if you are single. Only accept if you don't mind a long drive or have a family thAt doesn't mind living in the boon docks . Also, very few people advance their careers here....very slow moving career advancement culture.

    Advice to Management

Provide a feasible roadmap for career advancement

I have been working at Exelon Power Team full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent place to work with access to most levels of management and leadership. Also great culture of learning and superior performance is reinforced within the organization.

    Cons

Working environment is great, but career development paths could be laid out a little better. Competitive environment and work life balance can be tough to maintain sometimes, but its nothing out of the ordinary in any other organization.

    Pros

The people who work here are by and large decent, nice people.
    The benefits are good.
The company facilities are nice and employees are given a number of perks.

    Cons

People who started with Power Team early on did very well for themselves. Big bonuses and easy promotions. The result today is that the talent at the senior level is mixed at best. Good employees that came in later get stuck at the lower ranks, and feel like they are not rewarded fairly compared to some of their peers. In general, the trading and marketing side of the power business is over-hyped, with a lot of buzz words and impressive sounding lingo, but not a lot of clear contributions to the company's bottom line. This is certainly true of Power Team, where it seems like there has not been much accountability over the years. It can't go on like this forever. If the merger with Constellation goes through, Power Team gets the axe. Too many years of high SG&A and mediocre performance was going to lead to this sooner or later.

    Advice to Management

The wheels were slowly starting to come off before the Constellation merger but you did nothing to right the situation. If the merger somehow falls apart, get some balls and fix the place. Everybody knows a lot of people who work there are not pulling their own weight.

    Pros

Everyone in the company is respectful and professional. No matter what posiiton you are in, you are not treated as just a number. Even the interns are given due respect.

    Cons

Location of Kennett Square is about 30-45 minutes away from a major city. If you are an urban young professional, this may affect your social life if you are working long and hard hours because of the amount of time it take sto get back home.

    Advice to Management

I had a great working experience. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone to work for.

    Pros

A huge breadth of knowledge will be gained within a short amount of time and you know that what you do has an impact on both the company and the community. Pay is good and benefits are very good for full time employees as well. The ability to work remotely is also a big benefit.

    Cons

During the summer I worked there they laid off several hundred employees. It was done very tastefully and well communicated with transparency at every level, but still a huge morale killer.

There is ability for advancement, but it is not rapid, and there are quite a few entrenched employees and managers left, even after the lay-offs.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should interact with the low level employees more and not hold grudges as often.
