I worked at Exertis full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great spiff week for Christmas, lots of sales activities and incentives for top sales person of the days (only BD team won because they covered most customers selling all products)

    Cons

No investment in quiet staff members who are making great sales, in order to be noticed you have to be loud and proud. Before the move from London to Essex the redundancy period was very unorganised and quite messy

    Advice to Management

Speak to your staff, quiet or loud they all make a difference and have ideas of how to make the experience more pleasant for everyone.

    I worked at Exertis full-time

    Pros

They tend to have good pay and benefits. they are in multiple locations across the country. There is opportunity to move between locations.

    Cons

There is a constant drive to deliver more with less resource. It's clearly all about the bottom line, but at the expense of everyone. Morale is very low and ignored by senior management

    Advice to Management

Talk to your people. You have some real gems beyond those making all the noise. Stop listening to the shouters and ask the quiet ones about hoe things really are.

    Pros

Down to earth management team. Great opportunities for those with ambition and ideas are listened too. Modern offices. Good benefits package.

    Cons

Not enough car parking in Basingstoke office which is frustrating, they now have an overflow carpark but took them ages to act on issue. Canteen could be better managed.

    Advice to Management

    More flexible working hours

I have been working at Exertis full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Generous commission if hit target. Newly refurbished and nice offices. Recognised distributor which is forever expanding and acquiring new businesses.

    Cons

Pre-historic processes and systems. Does not embrace modern day work ethics such as Google, Apple and Amazon. Employees work 9am to 6pm and ad hoc hours, wearing suits and using 10 year old laptops.

    Advice to Management

Support your employees. Embrace modern work ethics and be human about individuals problems. Fairness is a big issue and not every person is treated fairly and its all down to favouritism.

I worked at Exertis full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good incentives day to day. Nice group of people to work with. All better than the business. Good buzzing sales floor

    Cons

The worst pay in distribution. Terrible commission and management will expect you to work extra hours if you miss target even though wages are shocking. A good place for beginners but terrible business model with minimal margin sales. All predominately based on low margins. No value to add and not aloud to see customers.

    Advice to Management

Update with the rest of the industry. Just because you turnover 2 billion doesnt make you the king of distribution. Terrible values towards staff

I have been working at Exertis full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

great year end effort from the management

    Cons

too big, lots of managers that are there because of length of service and not because they are right for the job. car parking is horrendous. MD is fabulous, retail fabulous but SMT / middle management of couple of sales departments needs a complete overhaul.
