I worked at Exeter Health Resources full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice building, nice coworkers, staff parking garage, free parking, close to highway, nice equipment, units well stocked, great cafe, hospitalist service.

    Cons

Low pay, does not follow Magnet-RNs not listened to, non caring middle and upper management, cafe not open for last part of evening shift and overnight shift.

    Advice to Management

Care for RNs, support, listen to RN input.
Replace CEO and certain nurse managers

I worked at Exeter Health Resources full-time

    Pros

    Nice campus, decent pay.

    Cons

Didn't feel appreciated or respected by my manager. She always told us all that everyone was replaceable.

    Advice to Management

See above. Appreciate your employees who make a difference.

  4. "Great coworkers and unlike the for profit hospitals in the area, they really put patients first here"

I have been working at Exeter Health Resources full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Patients really do come first and it isn't like that at others in the area. Coworkers are so nice and people are just happy there. Good medical benefits. Management really works to develop their staff and want them to succeed.

    Cons

Less holidays , they are taken from PTO should be separate, and pay is most areas is a bit lower than similar jobs in the area.

    Advice to Management

Never go for profit. Things are great here

I have been working at Exeter Health Resources full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits package is hard to beat. While the pay isn't great by any means the benefits make up for it.

    Cons

Lack of communication between providers and nursing staff leads to dangerous patient care. Additionally the management is so focused on customer service that it forgets what it takes to provide reasonable patient care.

    Advice to Management

Discuss changes with your employees before implementing changes

    Pros

    Team approach to caregiving
    Very professional environment
Clean and modern building and beautiful campus
    Fair pay

    Cons

Stand by and On call eat into your vacation days when census is low.
The clinical staff and the administration seem to work independently rather then together; like third degree heart block... no communication at all between two vital pieces of the whole. I think they are trying to remedy this though.

    Advice to Management

Allow the clinical staff more involvement with changes throughout the organization.
From what type of gloves are purchased to the software that we chart in, to feel validated and worthy of our opinions being heard is something I think would resonate well among the clinicians.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Work with great, committed staff who appreciate each other and care deeply for the patients in our community. Co-workers encourage and recognize each other for their initiative.

    Cons

Bloated highly compensated administrators are out of touch with overworked employees. Unreasonable expectations are set with rigid top-down management style. There is tremendous turnover in practice management.

    Advice to Management

Set reasonable expectations for employees and compensate appropriately for efforts. Takes cues from individual practices as to what the needs of the staff and patients are. One size fits all management is short-sighted.
