I worked at Exinda full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility in managing a sales territory. Direct sales management was good. Unlimited cap on commissions.

    Cons

Company was acquired in May 2017 by GFI Software.. Management, Engineering, support staff was drastically reduced. Assimilated into GFI structure. Company is a shell of it's former self.. Future is uncertain.

    Advice to Management

Shore up support, sales and product development as soon a possible.

    I worked at Exinda full-time

    Pros

Some good folks worked there in the past.
All the stock the sr execs are hoarding will be worth nothing when the company goes under.

    Cons

Nearly all the good folks are now gone. Constant restructuring. Only consistency is with select members of the sr e-team (ceo/cfo), everyone else is run out of there after a couple years at best. They're running the company into the ground.

    Advice to Management

If I could rate lower than 1 star, I would. Probably worth about 1/4 of a star at best. Worst sr e-team i've ever encountered. clueless... or intentionally manipulating... your choice.

    Pros

Salary, co-workers, middle management, ability to work from home (company very big on Skype), fantastic expense budget for travel and expenses.

    Cons

Executive management, benefits, ability to execute (technically), career opportunities particularly if you are not located in Canada, particularly Toronto or Waterloo. The company shows it is based in USA, but only the VC is located there. Everything is in Canada.

    Advice to Management

Clean house at the VP and above level. The VC that owns the company either doesn't care or doesn't know what's really going on as they're shielded.

I worked at Exinda full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - The company allows their sales people to work remotely

    Cons

I would not recommend to work here
    - The company does layoffs every other quarter
    - The company offered health benefits as part of the hire on package however held back health insurance because they could not afford employee payroll

I worked at Exinda full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Technology is OK considering the price point
    - Some good people, especially the ones that came from previous technology companies

    Cons

    - CEO changed his mind on a whim and chased a new "idea" every other week
    - CFO lied through his teeth about the financial situation. There were two massive RIFS at Exinda in the two+ years I was there. This was immediately following the CFO expressing how solid the company's financial footing was
    - All of the know how that was based in the main development office in Australia is gone due to the closing of the office
    - Major product issues being disguised with cosmetic fixes
    - They are desperately trying to sell the company and it shows

    Advice to Management

    - The venture capitalists financing this company should take a closer look at the CEO and CFO and replace them. They are way in over their heads and do everything possible to hide what's really happening. One of the worst work environments, if not the worst, I have ever worked at. The market is well aware of the condition Exinda is at and of their desperation to sell.

I have been working at Exinda full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent company culture, good benefits and awesome work atmosphere.
All of this was true before being acquired by GFI

    Cons

GFI acquired Exinda and ruined the company core. Got rid of the majority of the Engineering and Support team with no respect to the employees that were retained.

    Advice to Management

Prior Management at Exinda made a poor call by selling it to a Shell company without doing their home work on any of the prior acquisition made by GFI

I worked at Exinda full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great product, amazing technology, should have been in every IT budget for everyone who needed a router or firewall... but not to be confused with an all in one solution. None of those ever work right. This is a dedicated purpose built platform that provided the best visibility and control available. Therefore it was easy to be excited, support and promote the products.

    Cons

Management and Marketing individually were good, however, the product and industry needed incredibly unique skills to be able to grow and scale the company which was difficult at the best of times.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing it's a great technology and everyone needs it, they just don't know it yet, you need to figure out that way to get them to realize it. Good luck!
