I have been working at Expedia Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great work-life balance and flexibility Marketing VPs Gourav Pani , Greg Taylor, Murari are very strong Most people are easy and fun to work with People reach across teams to help each other

    Cons

No manager training leads to people doing whatever they want with their teams. New campus in Seattle is currently really hard to commute to from the Eastside if you don't live in Bellevue or Redmond. Compensation is low compared to Microsoft and FANG

    Advice to Management

Train your managers to lead with clarity.

I worked at Expedia Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Excellent benefits, nice work environment, career development advice.

    Cons

Be ready to be a politician! Because of the huge among of career levels, top leadership seams to be out of touch with what is going on in the field.

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach

I have been working at Expedia Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benefits including outstanding insurance, flexible PTO, WFH, travel & wellness reimbursements

    Cons

Minimal career growth in satellite offices. Cross-department transfers almost non-existent. Toxic environment for people of color in regards to micro-aggressions & lack of promotions of people of color (practically none in Leadership). Lots of politics. Bleak outlook with new CEO due to layoffs and cutback on internal spending/rewards. Weak bonus structure, especially compared to other tech companies.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like you appreciate them. Learn about D&I, don’t just talk about it. Have a true open market talent place.

I worked at Expedia Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Culture "the people" Work/life balance Benefits Brand recognition

    Cons

Path to progression Pay minimal Politics If you don't drink the kool-aid and be visible during work hours - regardless of actual production - you won't be favored for promotions.

    Advice to Management

Decisions should be more objective, recognition based off production not perception, quotas backed by defined calculations, and strategy should be stronger than simply finding ways to have lower rates than booking.com

I have been working at Expedia Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

People are kind, smart and hard working The programs are well thought out and there does seem to be strategic leadership Solid benefits.

    Cons

Like any huge enterprise, change is slow and new initiatives and new thinking takes a long time.

    Advice to Management

The whole Job Rank thing was not mentioned during my interview process, nor did I see it in any of my offer information. Once hired, however, I understood how the job rank constrains opportunity for career growth. I imagine that you think most people would assume that is how your internal processes work - but for those of us coming from companies with fewer than 10k people, it is new and different. I would recommend... that you be more transparent about these details during the interview process.

    Pros

Expedia's culture stands out above all other global tech companies. Co-workers - from peers to leadership are friendly, inclusive and supportive. Contractors are treated as equals and with great respect. We are not visibly or otherwise segregated from full time employees. Opinions are welcome and opportunities to contribute are bountiful. Many employees in the marketing team work remote and rely on regular... conference calls with teams. Unlike many other companies conference calls are All video calls which creates a collaborative, open, friendly, collegial environment. Expedia staff are unified in their commitment to creating a positive environment for their partners And their employees.

    Cons

Current Bellevue HQ location. Seattle location will be a huge improvement (for Seattle employees)

    Advice to Management

Continue the focus on culture and environment - it truly stands out from other regional tech companies that foster cut-throat competition and inequality and disrepect of valued contractors.
