    Loved my time at Expedia.

I have been working at Expedia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Competitive enough salaries
Good benefits (health etc.) and also travel benefits
Need to call out that FTEs start with 15 working days PTO and get 20 after 3 years (besides 8 public holidays, 2 personal days and 10 days sick leave).
Interesting work, especially if you like travel
    Autonomy in your role.
Marketing has fun and interesting people to work with

    Cons

Mid-level management has more mediocre people than superstars.
Organizational decisions are driven by relationships and people's personal feelings as opposed to org design principles. Can be frustrating to deal with.
Unobjective performance review process that can make pay rise and bonus decisions seem arbitrary.
Company doesn't focus on customer experience or service, just maximizing transactions from customers. Works well in the short-term but doesn't take a long term view

    Advice to Management

Set up your processes for career progression.
CMO needs to think more about marketing strategy than re-orging every few months.

I have been working at Expedia full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits (insurance, travel reimbursement, etc.) are fantastic, the travel discounts are great as well, the people who work here seem to be pretty sharp intelligent people.

    Cons

I wish there was more training. It seems like the most recent re-org has caused a lack of continuity on and between teams.

I worked at Expedia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great base salaries and working environment. Employees believe in the brand and what it stands for. Lot's of cross-team collaboration and celebration of achievements. Descent work-life balance.

    Cons

Not accountable for poor management. There is no on-boarding process. If you can make it 18 months, then you are in but until that you are on edge. There is a consistent revolving door which makes it very challenging. Promotional opportunities are rare.

    Advice to Management

You have some crappy managers working for you and they treat their direct reports like doo-doo. I don't see how a whole team can give someone multiple bad reviews and the result is that person is allowed to let go of their whole team. What is wrong with that picture?

I have been working at Expedia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can get broad exposure to all online channels, specialize in the channel of your choice; keep up to date with the cutting edge e-commerce product concepts and consumer preferences.

    Cons

Organic growth/internal promotion in careers into management positions seems to be very few.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Great benefits and a fun product.

    Cons

Poor management. It was a terrific place to work but is now a shell of its former self. Since 2004, it has been caught in a downward spiral. Current management is too concerned with making its own mark than with making the company the best it can be. There is no concern for employees - particularly those who have been there for any length of time. It may be just fine for new employees though, who have no knowledge of the company's golden age.

    Advice to Management

Stop the bleed out of historical knowledge. There's no need to continually reinvent the wheel. Start paying attention to your customers again. And your employees.

    Pros

    Good Benefits and Pay
    Great Teams
    Lots of autonomy
    Still feels like a startup

    Cons

The company is growing super fast, and the teams are constantly changing and recruiting, this can cause a lot of noice within teams and they get distracted

    Advice to Management

Trust your teams more, it's a smart group of people, instead of leading from the front, let your team sort it out. Delegate more
