I worked at Expedia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working environment and work life balance are second to none. Great perks as well and good wages, in line or above market average. Opportunities to work with teams across multiple time zones and as well as travelling providing you're senior enough in the company's hierarchy.

    Cons

It can be hard to be promoted and do career progression if you don't know the right people and you don't work in a team with high visibility projects across your department.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on managing and coaching your direct reports and less on maintaining senior management over-informed most of the time.

    Pros

    - Work culture
    - Benfits
    - Flexi time
    - No micro management
    - One team attitude
    - Work travel
    - Regular social events

    Cons

    - Personally I have worked with both great and not so great line managers. I felt that some line managers are not qualified to be people's managers, they are not competent or trained enough.

    Advice to Management

Line managers should be properly trained and evaluated because their teams are dependent on their manager's competence and skills to grow into successful professionals.

    Pros

we get to work with very talented people, the salary compensation and benefits package are very good. Also, career evolution is interesting due to the diversity of fields and brands Expedia has.

    Cons

It's a very big company so you have a lot of procedures, processes and hierarchy.

    Advice to Management

Bosses in the USA be a little more mindful of the times you set your meeting with other time zones they like to go home too

Current Employee - Human Resources Generalist in London, England (UK)

    Pros

It's been almost 8 month since I stared working for Expedia and I loved every single day at work.

All teams I work with are really friendly and always happy to help - you don't feel like a stranger, you don't notice stressful atmosphere at all - which is much different than what I experienced at my previous workplaces.

The are lots off opportunities to broaden your knowledge and managers are listening to your ideas and they help you achieve your development goals.

    Cons

The only reason I gave 4, not 5 stars, is because we are given fixed-term contracts to start with, and you never know if it will be extended / converted into perm.
