I have been working at Expedia as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people across all time zones, they will help with anything they can
Up to date tech which makes your job much easier
Great work-life balance, very flexible in working hours
People are open to suggestions, your opinion will not go unnoticed
    Great events

    Cons

A bit too much politics at times
You don't often get a birds-eye view of what is going on. More details on larger scale projects could motivate employees.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Request feedback more often.
Better resource management could be implemented.
Communicate across teams to minimize the duplication of work and maximize the productivity.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Expedia (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Expedia has an international team of people and you can learn a lot from all of them.
Offices are great, great location, good salary, good professionals and happy team to work.

    Cons

I can't think of any cons right now. Sometimes some teams were a bit disorganised but nothing I haven't seen in any other company.

    Advice to Management

I would advice to make teams to share more, connect between each other. Communication is fundamental in a company, mostly when it's that big. Sharing projects and experiences would help a lot.

    Pros

Empower staff with test and learn culture, great people working there, lots of opportunity to grow your career, travel and technology is a great place to be

    Cons

Internationalisation - still USA dominates view but working hard to change. Can be tough dealing with time zones of a west coast company!!

    Advice to Management

Strong management doing the right things but CEO stock options package is ridiculous compared to size and performance of business Vs others in market and doesn't match incentives for employees

    Pros

This company offers great benefits and the work culture is impressive. Its data department is always updated with new technologies.

    Cons

Basic salary is sometimes too low and definitively the vertical career development plan needs some improvements. However, lateral career growth plan is really good

    Advice to Management

    Transparency and open communication

I have been working at Expedia as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've settled in really well here. It's a complex business with different brands and internal businesses, and it takes a while to get up to speed. The work itself and the internal stakeholders can often be demanding and challenging, but also fast-paced, interesting and collaborative. I've been made to feel very welcome and happy here, and the culture compares very well with other companies I've worked for. You can really get stuck in here, and feel that your ideas are listened to and valued.

    Cons

If you are based in London / Europe, because many key decision makers are in Seattle and on West Coast time, expect to have to work later on occasion.

    Advice to Management

Great culture here, from top down. Try to retain the freedom to challenge others and to make mistakes, while still being supportive and not letting that turn into a culture of blame.
