I have been working at Expeditors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits ( 401 k , health insurance PPO, stock purchase plan)

    Cons

Managers and Supervisors only lookout for their own benefits and bonuses. A lot of politics to get your training done and to be able to move up.

    Advice to Management

Look down to your staff and give them the proper reward (better salary, bonuses and rewards) they are the ones that actually move this company.

I worked at Expeditors full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers. Benefits. Vacation time and sick time.

    Cons

Long hours. No room to grow. Management will give you the run around about the career growth. They will work you like slaves. The only way to move up is if someone leaves the company or retires.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employee's better. Listen to what they have to say.

I have been working at Expeditors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Used to be good benefits
    People there are great
Opportunities to move up if you know someone

    Cons

-poorly managed teams and expected to work like robots
-managers are more concerned about invoicing and meeting revenue but not finding new ways to integrate the team and learn the actual product
-favoritism happens all around and everyone is not treated equally. Ex, someone could come in 1-2 hrs late everyday and if you are on the managers good graces then they don't care but if you dare come in 15 mins early and are not BFFs then you will be spoken to.
-hiring is based off managers personal preference and not qualifications
-open door policy is not so open and if you dare speak bad about a manager it will get back to them.

    Advice to Management

Please treat all your employees equally and sit down and learn the product. When mistakes are made sit down and think about why the employee is making it. Is it because they're overwhelmed, is there too many accounts for 1 person to handle, how can management support their employees better to keep the department, team, and customers all happy.

    Pros

At least on my team, very hands off environment. So I like not being micro managed like some other companies. The work is enjoyable and the days go by fast since I'm busy most of the time.

    Cons

Starting pay is dismal. Raises and bonuses given out by the company are rare. No casual fridays. So a shirt and tie everyday. I've gotten used to it I guess.

    Advice to Management

    Pay people a living wage.

    Pros

Nice people, strong company culture, professional environment. Everyone seems to be on the same page and I like that type of environment

    Cons

Nothing major. Really like it here. Early on it was difficult to grasp but I got a lot of support and training

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing

I worked at Expeditors full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits - but even this wont make you stay. Glassdoor wants me to key 20 words.... Cant think of any other pros

    Cons

-company lied about my job title so be careful
    -low low pay
-company culture is so uptight. Very corporate and you are just a number. Business attire to look professional. I can understand if you meet clients but if you just sit at your desk all day what is the point? Work more professional instead. Very robotic environment and obsolete processes. No creativity in here. Negative vibe in the office with lack of natural light which makes the place look sad and employees look unhappy.
    -no employee perks.
-Managers have a lot of ego here. Please you are not like doctors who saves lives!!!
-was told the job doesnt allow me to take my 2 breaks because of hourly deadline.
-you will be trained by a 20 something yr old who thinks he/she is better and smarter than someone who actually have more experience. Please...
-employees may look sharp but basically surfing the internet most of the time.
Dont feel bad if you did not get a job with this company. Call yourself blessed and fortunate instead. Did not regret leaving this company. they dont have layoffs because people dont stay long anyways.

    Advice to Management

Look at what other companies are doing! Wake up! Its a brand new world! Move forward! You cant attract talent with your culture, management and low pay.

I worked at Expeditors full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-If this is your first time job you will learn real fast that hard work does not pay, and you will learn about the politics of working a slave wage job.
-Employee deaths are emailed to everyone regularly, this is to help employees watch out for potential promotions.

    Cons

-Everyone hates their job, including managers. Most all of the older managers want 0 innovation as this would cause for them to learn something. Management wants a stable income and desk level employees better not interfere with this.
-Useless managers. Majority of the management is absolutely useless and are disrespectfully detached from the desk level employees that do 100% of the work. 100% of responsibility is held at the desk level. Supervisors and Managers are not held accountable as they technically only oversee their accounts and don't directly interact with anything.
-Promotion is based on favoritism. If you don't get regular small talk from a manager that likes you, quit immediately.
    -Low pay.
-Difficult to leave due to low pay.
-Non-flexible hours, you can neither be 1 minute late or early. Mandatory 1 hour lunch.
    -Reprimanded for going on vacation.
-People show up to work while they are sick as using sick time is frowned upon. You must call in sick and confirm to them that you are sick.
-Mandatory overtime. You cannot leave until the job is done.

    Advice to Management

Know desk level roles and tasks. How can you help anyone if you don't know what they are doing? Promote people that care about the company rather than someone you want to hang out with.

    Pros

    -Unlimited growth within the company
-Plenty of opportunities to move within the company

    Cons

-Most employee are paid below median salaries for their jobs. This is because management gets most of the profits
-No compensation for brokers; Supervisors are the ones who get compensated for the work
-Empty promises about raises and opportunities; make you wait

    Advice to Management

-Pay your employee what they are worth
