Direct manager was good and honest. Staff were great to work with.

I worked at Express Scripts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Training was excellent in the beginning. Fun people to work with. Some fun activities. Was nice to be recognized also in the beginning.

    Cons

After the merger with Medco things went downhill from there. Just seemed to lose the ability for helping the patient.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.

    Pros

Depends on your role..For me, I am in an advisory role with minimal day to day interaction with the business. ESI is making a effort to improve employee satisfaction and it's beginning to show. They have gone through some major growing pains making things work after all the mergers/acquisitions. Hours are fine for me but there are some that work 60+ to keep afloat. Depends on your role

    Cons

Huge emphasis on uptime which is great but makes getting things done a bit more difficult. Teams are spread around the country and world which can make for some additional barriers. Very metric based environment which is fine but takes away from the real work that needs to be done.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work with culture change and do better job planning for future instead of focusing so much on metrics...

I worked at Express Scripts full-time

    Pros

Good pay, PTO, Benefits, work from home.

    Cons

Plan on working 24/7. Meetings consume days at all hours due to sites nationwide in different time zones. Too many clients to manage. With ESI and Medco merger company is too big. Areas account management rely on show no accountability, deadlines are missed. A lot of barriers and inefficient processes so to accomplish something that should be quick and easy takes weeks many times months. Good pay is not worth sacrificing your life and you and your family suffer. Life is too short.

    Advice to Management

Hire more staff. Listen to your employees when they say they are overworked and need help. ESI is no longer the company it once was which is very sad. Many of us with long tenure worked so hard to make ESI great and provided great service to our clients but could not sustain it since the Merger. Too many disconnects with other employees who just don't care anymore.

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Joined less than a year ago. None of the red flags I was warned about came true. This is a company that quickly changed from a cut-throat M&A culture to a technology driven culture of collaboration.

    Cons

Multiple office locations make most projects and teams virtual.

    Advice to Management

Keep up focus on adopting Agile and DevOps.

I have been working at Express Scripts (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The job has the potential to assist hundreds and thousand patients with their prescriptions. It is a good feeling to be able to help people. The other employees are great to work with. Benefits are better than many other jobs.

    Cons

Local management has their favorites and will bend over backward for them to get them what they want even though there are others that do a much better job. Sometimes it's like management doesn't know what they are doing and follow the leader around like puppy dogs. The pay is low for the amount of knowledge you are expected to have and keeping up with all of the changes. There are many scheduling issues and management only works well with their favorites and that includes supervisors. Some times, it seems like they care less about the patients than making numbers for time on the phone, and getting people to transfer their prescriptions from retail to mail. They talk about a work/life balance, but will not work fairly with employees schedules. Talk about bonuses, but make it impossible to make some of the numbers.

    Advice to Management

Offer a living wage, treat employees fairly, not just your favorites. It doesn't have to be a fun place to work, but a pleasant place to work.

I worked at Express Scripts full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are in line with industry standard. Team leader was the only reason to stay at company until she/he was fired.

    Cons

ESI inc is only interested in profit. I've seen thousands of patients go without lifesaving medication due to employee and system failures

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your frontline employees
