I worked at Express Scripts full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

work at home, layoffs are rare, great benefits, monthly bonus, periodic contests to win prizes or redemption points, good management, friendly employees, paid vacation, paid time off, low turnover

    Cons

schedule, high seniority, benefits don't kick in for 90 days, 4 weeks training, periodic changing of rules, some issues with phone system, outdated software

    Advice to Management

Offer early retirement packages for senior employees to free up better shifts for lower seniority employees, update computer software and servers, quicker updates on upcoming rule changes, update the phone software, have benefits kick in after 30 days

I worked at Express Scripts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Pays Ok - Ability to work from home; though this varies from team to team - Good benefits especially PTO for corporate employees - Very stable business model with no exciting changes

    Cons

    - Minimal Guidance & Training: Don't expect any guidance or technical resource supporting your role; management just wants you to start producing numbers for them instead of giving you development opportunities. Minimal training is given and the rest is on you to figure everything out. - Bureaucracy & Favoritism: Bureaucracy is all over the place here. There are probably more VPs in some departments... than analysts which is laughable. If you want to survive here, kiss up the CORRECT higher-up will help you a long way. You will get fast tracked in your career by becoming their favorites; however if you are not one of those favorites, you are out of luck & will stay in your position probably forever. - No accountability: With the bureaucracy they had over here it's more important to make sure your boss & your boss's boss look good than doing actual work so people would make up numbers and nobody would want to do any implementation on anything. Plus nobody checks on whether your number is correct or not, so fake it until you make it (& nobody will ever make it)! - Siloed working environment: A lot of teams work in huge silos even sub-teams within the same org don't talk to each other. Nobody knows what's going on with the other group. This basically makes collaboration impossible.

I worked at Express Scripts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The building/cafeteria are very nice and pleasant to work in, the people can be kind and the PTO is generous- 20 days total. The work from home policy is also great

    Cons

Very strict hierarchy- your perceived worth is determined by your title. There are strict rules stating that you can't even apply for a new position without your manager's approval, and this limits upward growth. It seems like people's actions are motived by the desire to move to the next step on the corporate ladder, not by what is actually the best choice for patients and the company. Too many people with... management titles that create unneeded processes.

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work life balance is top notch. Aces for work culture. Aces for SUPER diversity. At Express Scripts work is easy. Very easy to love what you do because leadership support is super amazing. As a matter of fact I can't express in words why I just love to go in to the office every day. Work from home is also very flexible.

    Cons

I am so comfortable at this job I honestly can't think of any cons. FYI Express Scripts is not what it used to be a few years ago. This company, now a subsidiary of Cigna, is truly one of the best places to work in America and there are statistics to prove that.

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I have worked with Express Scripts for over 13 years even through all mergers and acquisitions. The benefits and work from home are great pros.

    Cons

It is concerning to me how employees were let go during mergers and how I have actually heard individuals advise managers not to rehire employees for no reason. There are managers actually bypassing candidates just because another employee advised them not to re- hire them.

    Advice to Management

HR and Upper Management needs to ensure that Managers are suited for the job.

    Cons

Heavy workload Too much overtime for the salary Promotion opportunities offered to select employees Poor management

    Advice to Management

Annual evaluation percentage should provide at least $1/hr increase Stop expecting high performers to stay when you’re only promoting one employee every five years Provide follow through on your word Stop expecting 50 hour work weeks, excessive meetings, training and random group activities that no one has time for
