    No Structure

    Pros

There are several benefits such as work from home and depending on the team they might negotiate with your in and out time. Pay is great during busy season.

    Cons

No work life balance due to work at home and the demand of the work. There is no structure in management. Every few months directors and supervisors are moved around due to new organization structures and procedures. This in turn hurts the company because no one knows who the proper person would be to reach out to when they're issues. By the time you do find out that person left or contract expired because they were a contingent employee. Another extremely bad con is that no one knows process or procedure so you're spending a significant amount of time looking for the person or application needed to assist with the assignment that doesn't take 5 minutes to do. They love hiring contract workers for 6 months spans and ending contracts due to budget cuts, so assignments and items are left uncompleted. They love promising contractual employees permanent position but everything is always at a standstill due to constant restructuring of the organization. The pay is disgusting compared to the work load given due to agency taking a big chunk of what should've been paid to you. Recently they've been hiring an over abundance of workers in the Philippines which in turn causes language and comprehension issues.

    Going the wrong way

    Pros

Lots of different career avenues and paths and a good amount of opportunities.

    Cons

Very little work life balance skewing further into losing that differentiation with more pushing of work from home. Very clique oriented and very political in career progression.

    Pros

Some teams are managed tightly and properly, some are discorded and overloaded

    Cons

If you are on a team that is overloaded you will have no work life balance

Money ain't everything! In fact, it means very little when you're treated like crap.

    Pros

Salary is on the high end of market value and benefits are on the better end of most corporate gigs.

    Cons

Management is horrible. Work/life balance is non existent. My direct supervisor, who had no real power, was great, but anyone director level or above is completely out of touch about the complexity of the business and systems. Employees are only valued with lip service. This is a Fortune 50 company and employee appreciation day consisted of watered down chili and a .39 cent mini flashlight? I appreciate that there actually IS an employee appreciation day, but that is so cheap when the company is making record profits. I'd rather have nothing than such a chintzy display. I know most companies have been struggling in the recession, but ESI has not and they've been cutting jobs, benefits, increasing workloads etc as if they were in dire financial straits. Why? Because they can take advantage of workers in a bad economy. I mean why eliminate casual Fridays at locations that don't really have client contact? What is the purpose in that? To show the employees who is boss literally. It was by far the worst 4 years of my professional life and I used to work in a group home where I had to brush dog crap out of someone's teeth and change people's diapers and THAT was a better job than working at ESI. No amount of money made it worth it to stay there. I am now at a place where I am respected and treated with dignity and have a great work/life balance. Once the economy improves, I'm sure people will leave ESI in droves until management is forced to begin treating their employees like valued human beings again in order to have any staff at all.

    Challenging, Exciting, Changes,Overworked, Fairly Compensated

Jun 14, 2013 - Customer Support Specialist in Saint Louis, MO

    Pros

Flexible work environment, numerous work at home positions available, casual dress code, fair bonus program, can carry a good portion of Paid Time Off balance forward each calendar year, career growth opportunities exist if you are a stellar employee. Very professional team members. I benefit greatly from the college compensation program which is offered to all full time employees.

    Cons

Would like to see a bit more diversity in the work place. Work life balance a bit difficult because high weekly work hours are the set expectation of most employees. Customer service reps's could use more training and orientation. Expect that you learn the job very quickly. Would like to see more training programs.
