    I have been working at Extendicare part-time

    Pros

    The residents are awesome. The fact thats its not LTC is a plus

    Cons

    Management is HORRIBLE! The nurses are over bearing and pure LAZY! The treat the aides like dirt. When most of them only have their ADN. Will watch one aide run around non stop while they point to where the light is going off at. Smokers get more breaks than non smokers. Speaking of breaks better a take a lunch. Filling out a missed pumch form is worthless they will find every excuse not to pay you.

    Advice to Management

    Get on your lazy nurses to help out the aides! Instead of having fancy dinners for the new owners.

    Pros

    Staff is a plus, pay is good, able to take time off for personal/family concerns with little notice.

    Cons

    Awful communication amongst mgmt, some mgmt unprofessional & confrontational leaving good staff to dislike job, Insurance is expensive w/ bad coverage

    Advice to Management

    Work on communcations & do more staff appreciation, & refrain from nepotism & cronyism as it hurts business & morale
